Joyo Jam Buddy II Orange

Ich liebe eigentlich alles an dem Gerät. Es hat einen ordentlichen Ein- & Aus-Schalter, auch für Bluetooth. Alles recht einfach ohne App einstellbar. Mit Drummer, Looper, separate Lautstärkeregler für Bluetooth und Gitarre - und vor allem hat man 3 Sounds mit Footswitch. Die Lautstärke reicht fürs üben und man kann den Sound weiterreichen ans Mischpult oder größere Lautsprecher.

Wenn - nun, wenn der Sound besser wäre. Für mich klingt das alles digital und undynamisch. Ich habs ein Weilchen probiert, weil ich alles an der Kiste liebe - außer eben, leider, den Sound. Reverb, Delay und Modulation sind okay, aber auch nicht top. Aber wenn der Grundsound nicht stimmt, dann ist alles Andere einfach vergebene Liebesmüh... . Clean geht noch, aber sobald es verzerrt - ne. Sehr schade.

An Joyo: Die Idee ist super. Die Hardware passt. Jetzt noch ein vernünftiges Sound-Update...

Sehr solides Teil! Passt wunderbar in der Tasche meiner Travelgitarre rein und beide sind somit ein unzertrennliches Paar. Kann zwar nicht mit z.b. NUX Mighty Air, das ich auch besitze, mithalten, doch das muss es auch nicht. Die drei Kanäle sind mehr als ausreichend und gerade der Fussschalter ist da von grossem Vorteil. Die Auswahl an Sounds ist meines Erachtens OK. Schliesslich ist das Teil nicht für die grosse Bühne gedacht, doch das könnte es auch wenn man möchte oder müsste. Vielleicht bringt JOYO weitere Amps mit einem nächsten FW Update mit, wie NUX oder Valeton es machen.

Ich bin 66 Jahre alt und als ich den Jam Buddy II einschaltete, stand er auf J800 Lo und sowas hatte ich früher mal und als ich über die Saiten strich, fühlte ich mich in die Vergangenheit versetzt. Auch im Overdrive richtig schön. Die kleinen Lautsprecher sind gut abgestimmt und es klingt überhaupt nicht bassarm. Es sind definitiv brauchbare Sounds dabei. Der Tuner funktioniert tadellos, die Drums haben "Luft nach oben", klingen aber ganz okay. Wenn ich endlich mal ganz "durchgekämpft" habe, werde ich diese Bewertung ergänzen. Habe aber auf jeden Fall Spass daran.

Ich war sehr skeptisch, ob ich nicht doch lieber was größeres oder generell anderes zulege, aber das war eine Topp Entscheidung. Ich brauche zu Hause garantiert nicht mehr. Die maximale Laustärke reicht locker um Nachbarn richtig zu ärgern. Aber auch auf Zimmerlaustärke einfach geiler Sound. Auf die Funktionen genau eingehen möchte ich nicht, da empfehle ich lieber mal auf YouTube zu schauen. Da habe ich einen Amerikaner mit furchtbarer Synchronisation gefunden, aber er zeigt alles, was man mit dem Jam Buddy II machen kann inklusive Looper. Das Video geht auch etwas länger, das ist aber nicht so schlimm, denn der Typ kann durchaus spielen und auch der Sound kommt ganz gut rüber.
Zu Erwähnen wäre auch noch das robuste und schöne Gehäuse. Auch Potis und Knöpfe wirken und sind wertig.
Lediglich der Looper kann im Einsatz "heikel" sein, da man beide Tasten gleichzeitig mit dem Fuß erwischen muss. Aber das ist Übungssache.

Auf jeden Fall ist der Jam Buddy II ein echter Buddy für Gitarristen.

This small plastic box offers many, many things in a very contained price.
But I warn you, it doesn't sound like a real amp and as a multi-effects it can't keep up with any other in the market, even those half the price of this device.
I'm not returning it, because I knew more or less what I was purchasing, but I must say that the YouTube reviews of this device that I watched before purchasing it are mostly delusional.
To put it in just a few words: This is not a quality sounding device, but just a (very) practical tool to use everyday or when you travel.
The sounds are just OK, the overdrive/distorsion effect is not tweakable and neither is the built in noise gate, that cuts the sound earlier than you'd like.
And as the basic DSP is all but powerful, some effects worsen the latency to the point that it's just too much. If you keep the focus on moderation (low levels, no simultaneous effects), it doesn't get ridiculous.

On the other hand, the tuner works quite well, the looper fulfills its (limited) role, the few effects are basic but functional and the speakers can't stand too much volume, but are surprisingly decent for an indoor quiet practice.

The drum machine would be nicer if they had created more usable rhythms and less 'experimental' ones. I just can't understand why they do this. Also the sound feels quite limited. Don't expect real sounds here.

But again, the device is designed to be the easiest tool for practice and thus the layout is straightforward and its functions are extremely easy to work out. If I hadn't previously read the manual (I'm one of those rare individuals that does it) I would've had no problem at all to find out how to get to every functionality and sound.

All in all, I'm not disappointed, but neither I am excited.
I wanted exactly this specific product (there's no one out there like it currently) and it's exactly what I got, nothing more.
I didn't want to spend most of my time tweaking parameters to get a decent sound and I definitely didn't want to depend on the smartphone or any other device to use this one.
This is what many people actually need and want for their free time with their guitar.
Seriously, I've had some multi-effects in the past and I still have a very good one, and I know how frustrating it is to spend half an hour just tweaking the hell out of it to finally leave the room exhausted and discouraged.
Sometimes you just have ten minutes and want to forget about screens.
And this is what this limited, imperfect, cheap, small portable device can offer.

Pros:
Ultra portable: small size, battery-powered.
Decent tuner.
Pedals (the only mini-amp that has them).
Drums: a nice detail.
Practical: you get three switchable sounds almost effortlessly.
Easy to use (except with the ridiculous, unreadable screen).
Easy to charge.
Easy to connect and record.

Cons:
The screen is a joke. It's not tiny, is microscopic. You need a magnifying glass to read some parameters.
Noticeable sound lag, latency.
A bit cheap feeling. Some encoders are wobbly.
Unsecure smartphone handler. There's no locking mecanism, the legs just insert in their holes and that's it.
Some crazy (unusable) drum patterns.
