K&M 14590

I've always been a big fan of products from K&M. They've always delivered excellent quality at reasonably prices. Nothing too fancy, just rock solid equipment that will last for decades.

Well, there had to be an exception. This string cutter is quite simply rubbish. After cutting about 10 sets of strings the edge is so worn and ragged that smaller gauges like .010 get stuck in the notches and won't cut properly.

I work at at guitar workshop and change about 10 sets of strings every week. I expect a specialized tool like this cutter to last considerably longer than a week. This one is already useless to me.

If you only play guitar occasionally and change your strings once or twice a year you might be happy with this cutter but if that's the case you would most likely be just as happy with the cheapest side cutter you can find at any hardware store.

Sorry K&M but this product is not up to your usually high standards.

I have purchased many cable cutters over the last few years most of which have been used for cutting cable ties and wires/leads, these cutters from K&M are quality and feel great to hold and not too weighty.. not a bad price from Thomann! All products from K&M are well made and take abuse, these cutters also live up to the K&M reputation.. worth the money and again every musician (guitarist or not) should have a set of these in their roadie bag!!
