The best kick drum head by far

I rave about this kick drum head to anyone who will listen. There's no need for internal dampening and it's great on a range of drums. I always get a great sound out of this head. If you're a super hard hitter or need a bit of extra durability then consider the super kick 2, but for me, the extra tone and resonance of this head is worth considering.

Excellent right out of the box

I love this bass drum head. Even when it's just thumb tightened it gives great tone and sound. Once I tuned it up the way I wanted it, it sounds amazing. I have it on my Yamaha Maple Custom, and get compliments all the time now about how my bass drum sounds by sound engineers. Also, I dumped the pillow I had in it, cause I don't need it anymore.

Great sound

I've been digging my Aquarian set up lately with modern vintage heads for a jazzier, warmer tone. I wanted something with a bit more of a thud than overtones for my kick so tried this out. For context I'm using it on my Sonor SQ1 22" kick - so birch shells.

In a word this drum head was perfect. A fantastic thump that I can feel in my chest, reducing overtones for nice clarity and nothing too muddy for double kick work (single pedal, unsure on double pedal).

I did go and put a blanket inside my kick for even less sustain but mostly not needed. The birch shells do like to sing a little.

Overall, I'd play these Aquarian heads for the rest of my life. Extremely happy with the quality and sound.

Thomann did a great job sending this out to the UK quickly and efficiently, and most importantly safe from scuffs and damage. Cheers!

If you like a fat, full tone from your bass drum then this is the skin for you. I prefer this one on my Mapex Saturn to the Super Kick II as I think the II muffles the tone a bit too much. A great deal at this price, recommended!
