Excelent kit

Urmuz, 15.11.2014
Wonderful for begginers and professional use as well.Has a great gain and as for the components - great quality!
Would have been nice to have a carring box, but the cardboard box has foam in it and its safe to transport the microphone.

The microphone for the island

Mischpultsigi, 09.10.2009
If I could take a single microphone on a lonely island, my choice would probably fall on the AKG C 3000.

In my small microphone collection are a total of three pieces of this wonderful microphone: two Ur-C 3000 from the 90s with the second membrane and thus switchable directivity characteristics of kidney on superniere and the C 3000 B, which has only one directional characteristic as well as a silver case. The black model shown here has existed since autumn 2009 and seems to differ only in the case color of the B-model, the technical data is according to the AKG website ident.

While the first C 3000 in the 90s initially cost around 1000.- DM (ie about 500.- Euro), the current model is almost ridiculously cheap. It is a mystery to me how such a first-class microphone can be produced / sold almost at a spin-price, because:

- It is first-class processed
- The sound is full and round (with a slope to the beautiful color)
- It is highly sensitive
- It has a high output level
- The detailed image of the instruments / vocals is excellent
- The noise is very low
- Good bag and good spider included in the price

You can hang the C 3000 almost everything, the sound will always be convincing. Sometimes you will feel compelled to thicken the tendentially voluminous sound through an EQ, as some of the instruments in the mix are too thick. And you should always keep in mind that this microphone is coughing the fleas cough, so solo instruments should rest in the room.

The microphone has a high output level of 25 mV / Pa, which in practice means that even a little more weakly preamplifier with this microphone well come. Nevertheless, here again, the better the microphone preamplifier, the better the sound of the C 3000. In my recording studio it hangs on a TL-Audio M 4 console.

On the AKG website, the loudspeaker sensitivity of this microphone is discussed, which is certainly true with regard to the robust design. However, I would like to use the C 3000 because of the high sensitivity with no conventional sonication, eg a rock band with monitor boxes, since it would very quickly come to feedback. With in-ear systems it may look different, but the C 3000 is primarily a studiomicrophone.

Very important is a POP-PROTECTION! In the case of close-up, the "P" and "S" sounds otherwise appear unpleasant. This is true not only for the C 3000 but actually every studiomicrophone.

In my recording studio I have done with my various C 3000 already very many recordings with the most diverse instruments and singers and can recommend this microphone without if and but.
