My new favorite book
Joe Waschl, 19.04.2019
I've gotten several books to give me new incentive to improve my guitar skills. One of them is this book. It is very clear and clearly structured. There is one exercise per weekday (365 in total). The exercises are again divided into different chord progressions per week (eg cadenzas ..) and the same progressions are again treated by different basic tones. The chords are treated in different layers, so that you get a good repertoire for one and the same chord. Each week you play the same progression with different chords, rhythms and music style, tempos and techniques. I think that's very good. For each exercise, there are tips on what to look for when gripping, or the technique. The exercises of the next week build in part on the exercises of the previous week and expand the complexity slowly. Different music genres are treated (RnB, Country, Jazz, Metal, Blues, Funk ...). Each track is also available on CD for listening. The theory in the introduction is limited to the essentials. Everything is really good and short explained (English), no ink is used for unnecessary or too far leading. The first exercises are simple, as the book progresses the level of difficulty increases. The book is also designed to be beginner-friendly, but even advanced learners can benefit from the simpler exercises at the beginning of the book, or skip the first few weeks.

very good book with a lot of rhythm exercises
02.12.2015
First of all, the book is written in English. But it is also good to use, if you do not speak the English language. Because the text does not really matter here anyway and all exercises are shown in notation as well as in tabulature and also recorded on 2 CDs to listen to.
I think the book is great. That's exactly what I was looking for. The essential part of the guitar textbooks is pretty much focused on lead techniques. Troy Nelson's book offers just the opposite: a plethora of rhythmic exercises that can be well integrated into his daily workouts (and his chord repertoire can be expanded along the way).
For me there is absolutely nothing to complain about. The exercises in the book start very simple and become more and more complicated. Thus, the book is very well suited for both beginners and advanced guitarists. The price performance ratio is quite impressive. This is not like some other textbooks actually rather a "booklet", but a fairly thick Brummer;)
