Larry Carlton S7 Vintage AWH

Eine gute Gitarre erkennt man daran, dass man nicht mehr mit dem Spielen aufhören will... das ist hier echt der Fall!
Die Verarbeitung, das Finish, die Mechaniken und das Fretboard fühlen sich super an. Der Sound kann fett aber auch dünn - wie es eine Strat auch soll. Whammy Bar ist auch nice - wird aber mit einer Schraube festgemacht, nicht einfach reingeschraubt (wusste ich vorm Kauf nicht - find ich trotzdem gut).

i saw this guitar and i was inlove.
The specs the color and just how it looks, made me fell in love.
I bought it and tried it and it was nothing really special.
- Pickups are average. No especial quality to mention. Just not great.
- Bridge is a 5 out of 10. It broke 2 of the high e Strings from the inside of the bridge, so there might be a sharp edge inside.
- Locking tuners are nice
- Paintjob and neck are both nice. Playability is average. neck is bit slimmer than a Harley Benton ST but nothing more than that.
- Very whell fretjob also.

But here the issue that made me return the guitar:

Nut is supposed to be bone. Im not really sure about that. It dont look like my other bone nuts. most importantly the slots are not lubricated or the locking tunners are not doing their job properly.

Simple bends (like David Gilmour style of bend) or just a simple use of the tremolo, will get the guitar out of tune 10 out of 10 times, by a lot.

I guess it could be the nut not being well lubricated ot the slot not being properly filed, but if I have to (after stretching the strings and setting the intonation and everything correctly) tune after every bend, its just not working.
I dont think it was the locking system because it was EVERY string and i dont find it probable that all of the locking tuners where just malfunctioning, yet this combined with how the pickup sounded, broke my heart.

Guitar was returned to Thomann and Im still on the search of another guitar like this one. :)

Esta Larry Carlton es prácticamente una guitarra boutique a un precio insuperable.
La adquirí por 485€ en Black Friday y, honestamente, es difícil obtener tanto por tan poco: Afinadores con bloqueo, mástil de arce tostado satinado, diapasón lacado, cejuela de hueso, trastes de bordes redondos, incrustaciones perloides, puente de trémolo de 2 puntos de encaje "Pop-in" y un estilo retro impecable. Por cierto, la unión del mástil y el cuerpo tiene un pequeño rebaje para hacerla más cómoda, el cual es un toque moderno bienvenido que supone una ventaja frente a modelos más puristas clásicos.

La construcción es muy buena y el ajuste, si bien no del todo perfecto, muy aprovechable y superior al de la media de marcas (solo necesitó un pequeño ajuste de entonación en el puente y eso no cuesta nada). Si bien los trémolos se benefician más de cejuelas de TUSQ auto-lubricantes, un ligero toque de Uncle Ben's Nut Sauce marcará la diferencia en la estabilidad de la afinación por unos pocos euros.

La guitarra se siente sólida, con un peso correcto, suficientemente convincente para que no se sienta ni muy pesada ni de juguete.

La electrónica, si bien no es CTS, se siente muy similar y con funcionamiento correcto y progresivo. Las pastillas tienen su propia personalidad, el puente tiene bastante twang, las posiciones 2 y 4 fuera de fase son las esperadas y la 3ª y 5ª son más opacas dentro de lo previsible, dando a la guitarra un sonido más redondo que para nada suena estridente. Esta es la diferencia más notable que he notado con respecto a una Fender, pero ambos sonidos son una interpretación del sonido natural de una Stratocaster.

Además, el diseño en blanco, con golpeador de caparazón de tortuga y potes y cubiertas en crema le dan un aire de los 70 insuperable, que de ser de Fender valdría casi 1000€ más.

En definitiva, es un guitarrón. Sire con esta gama Larry Carlton ha clavado el estilo de una Fender boutique con un precio difícil de creer. Si valiera 900-1000€ te lo creerías. Si bien opino que hacen un trabajo más redondo con su modelo Telecaster (también es más simple), esta Strato tiene un gran nivel también que todo el mundo debería conocer. Adquirí esta guitarra el año pasado en otro distribuidor y la devolví porque era un desastre, esta vez he dado otro voto de confianza a Sire y he tenido suerte, siendo como debería ser: GENIAL. Recomendable 100%.
