Yamaha THR30IIW Cream

I used to try some of the well praised small modelling amps /Katana Air, Yamaha THR 5, NUX Mighty Amp, Joyo DC 155/. This one is the best of them all! Only Katana Air is catching up but I had a feeling that it tends to distort easily and the BT connection didn’ t last long. Every other had lots of flaws I disliked so much that I sold them soon. This one is a keeper - not only for my garden jamming to wake up the neighbours from their after-lunch nap but mainly as my pure sound source for my AKAI MPC LIVE II. The sound quality and spaciousness of the sound is really something you must hear to believe. If you use a simple Bluetooth to midi pedal /Blueboard, Airturn, etc/, you can easily program switching the built -in fx of the amp in a quite good looking and functional iPad app. I also purchased the Line6 G10TII transmitter that works like a charm - just plug in in your guitar and you’ re good to go. The only minor grape is the number of built in fx - Katana Air is richer in this aspect, but fo you really need so many? All in all I do not know any better couch practicing amp out there!

Vždycky mě odradily dvě věci - umělý zvuk a nutnost používat nějaké smart zařízení k nastavení komba (když hraji na kytaru, chci se odrušit od on-line světa).
Po dvou letech mohu stále řict, že tento model je to nejlepší, co můžete koupit pokud hledáte modelingové kombo, které má přirozený zvuk (který do dneška nechápu jak dva malé reproduktory tvoří) a stejně tak lze obsluhovat i po staru (bez telefonu / tabletu).
5 presetů, které si můžete nastavit a uložit jsou super.
Pokud chcete, může fungovat i jako reproduktor, což je na trénování super.
Nicméně pouze na reprodukci hudby ztrácí zvukově v basech oproti Bluetooth repráčkům na to určených jako třeba JBL.
Podtrženo sečteno - skvělé kombo které s Vámi bude dlouho.

At first I thought this amp to be a bit pricey but after having and utilising it for a while I think it's worth every penny. The sound is crisp and powerful and the wi-fi and bluetooth capabilities are a charm. I'm using it both at home with my headphones but also in a park for busking. And the fact that I can stream wirelessly a backing track from my phone is invaluable. I recommend purchasing a Line6 Relay G10 wireless transmitter with it. It eliminates the hassle of the instrument cable and the amp works perfectly in conjunction with it since Line6 is also a Yamaha company. Also worth adding is the iPad/iPhone app which adds a ton of different sounds to the amp and make the switch to different presets very easy.

I have several tube amps, and for years I used loadboxes to record them with IRs and to play at bedroom levels. Then I tried this Yamaha and my amps collecting a dust. I'm not saying THR sounds better than real amps. But THR sounds better at low volumes than real amps. And is more flexible. Actually, it sounds so good via my studio monitors, that I now record with it. And I love the fact that the flexibility is strictly limited - no mike models or positions to choose from, only cabs can be changed. This is good since I found that I tend to spend too much time tweaking the tone in plugins (Bias FX2, TH-U etc) rather than playing. Here I got perfect tones in minutes! E.g. here I play 80s style Hi-Gain "Shredwave" via this amp directly (btw, using a wireless system) :

the NEGATIVE. The App! THR Remote. Tried two different phones (Huawei and Samsung) - very rare occasions it works! In 90% it does not. Does not connect, don't see the device, don't sync etc. Complete disaster! Similar story with the desktop app via USB. Very poor software. Keep syncing, but never connects etc. It reminds me the nightmare with other Line 6 products I had in the past - software was always full of bugs and issues. And based on the reviews, these problems are very common. So Line 6 still has not found good software developers. Sad...
