Yamaha DTX6K-X E-Drum Set

Eerste indruk was meteen goed, alles netjes verpakt en hoogwaardige materialen en hardware.
Gemakkelijk in elkaar te zetten, duurde niet lang.

Geluid:
De module heeft ongeveer 40 presets, zowel akoestisch al electrische sounds. De geluidskwaliteit is erg goed, ze hebben er goed over nagedacht.
De sound is erg punchy, soms wat te punchy in bepaalde presets. Dit kun je gemakkelijk zelf instellen met de 'transient' setting. Sommige sounds komen met een transient boost out-of-the-box.

Dus je hebt werkelijk alles te tweaken aan dit drumstel. EQ, compressie, Room, Reverb, Exciter en andere effecten.

Gebruiksvriendelijkheid:

De module is makkelijk in omgang, het is wel even puzzelen want er zijn gewoon heel veel menu's. Zo kun je op 3 verschillende locaties in de module de volumes van alle individuele drums aanpassen. Misschien wat veel van het goede.

Ten slotte is dit wel een klein drumstel, houdt daar rekening mee. Indien u zelf rond de twee meter lang bent zou ik een groter drumstel kopen. Voor mij is het echter perfect, ik ben rond de 1,70 meter.

Hatte so meine Schwierigkeiten von roland auf yamaha zu wechseln, jetzt bin ich begeistert. Die verarbeitung ist das einzige manko wenn mensch roland gewöhnt ist kommt alles eher „billig“ daher, aber der sound ist bestechend gut, die bearbeitungsmöglichkeiten, der kopfhörerverstärker ist ein traum, auf usb stick aufnehmen in verschiedenen routing optionen, das triggerverhalten ist super… ich bin glücklich.

I got into electric drums recently and my first purchase was the Roland TD-1K for my daughter. That kit is just amazing for the price and excellent for children or when you have very little space.

This Yamaha kit I bought for myself after watching a lot of video reviews, mainly because the DTX6 module gets a lot of praise. Deservedly so, it is a really nice module with a lot of configuration possibilities and prosumer lever features. It is very accessible and with some study you can do A LOT to the sound of the included kits without any external processing. The rack was easy to build and everything seems nice, this is a proper yet still slightly compact drumkit that absolutely doesn't seem like a toy in any way.

The provided kits include a few good ones, personally I like Roland sounds more. Especially the bass drum sounds in this Yamaha module are all pretty awful out of the box but you should be able to configure them to your liking using the more advanced processing feature, or even import a sample of your own via usb.

There are a few bigger problems though. Had I known these things I think I would have bought a similarly priced Roland kit instead:

Ride cymbal triggering is pretty awful: to get a bell sound you have to extremely accurately hit a zone of about 2 cm. In practise this means this is not a three-zone cymbal, you only have the side and middle zones that are actually usable (it does choke though) and no (reliable) bell

The worst part about this kit is the hi-hat triggering. At least with the provided pedal it is light years behind even the Roland TD-1K. It really is quite amazing. It's almost if you have a closed hi-hat and an open hi-hat only and nothing much in between, unless you have millimeter accuracy with your left foot. This is immediately noticable and you can't do expressive hi-hat play, the feel is very very basic and digital. Very disappointing.

With these two major flaws I find the Roland TD1-K to be a more expressive instrument and based on that would suggest you try a Roland kit in the same price range if you want finesse in your playing. This kit is kind of rough and digital in comparison.

You can probably edit the triggering response curves but that should be better straight out of the box.
