The noise master!

Physically there is nothing wrong with this pedal.
It is solid and sturdy. I love the big nobs.
The sound is good, and it comes very close to my old Boss DF1, but still have a little darker sound to it.
BUT, the big problem here is the noise. I don't know if it is just me who have been unlucky to get the one pedal that make noise, or they all do it. I don't have a noise filter yet in my chain, that might help. But when I turn it on it buzz like crazy, like nothing I ever heard before, and so loud. I have two other pedals from TC from the same series, and they make no noise at all. And I have two other distortion pedals who does not make any noise. So I take away two stars because off the noise.

Well worth the price

Superb material quality; metal casing and sturdy buttons. The sound through my Hughes & Kettner GM 40 did not impress, but for the price, there's nothing to complain about! Works well for rock and roll sounds through the clean and crunch-channel.

Growl and bite pedal

Perfect for that classic rock and vintage heavy metal sound. All of the pedals in this series from TC Electronics seems to have it's own specific use, but they are really good at that. I've bought a couple of the other ones as well, and will buy more of them. This pedal definently brings the crunch.

Si l'on dit souvent la TC Fangs plus polyvalente, la Grand Magus mérite qu'on s'y arrête un moment, de par son son bien plus rond et plus chaud. De fait, elle s'exprime bien dans les registres allant du blues au punk en passant par tout le spectre des sous-genre du rock. Certes, elle peine à trancher dans le vif comme la Fangs peut le faire, mais si vous voulez faire du métal, autant prendre l'autre. Dans les autres cas, la Magus pourrait se révéler plus intéressante, car elle travaille mieux avec d'autres pédales que sa soeur métalleuse. On peut obtenir de bonnes choses en la couplant avec un Od ou une fuzz et fonctionne pas mal comme boost d'un canal d'ampli saturé. Bref, elle est plus polyvalente qu'il n'y paraît. Toutefois, si l'on pinaille un peu, on peut lui reprocher un petit manque de définition dans les médiums, mais rien d’irrattrapable et pour le prix, ça reste sacrément chouette. Enfin, comme les autres pédales de la gamme, elle est solide et inspire confiance.
