Die Optik ist toll und die Größe ist auch hervorragend (extrem klein, nimmt kaum Platz auf dem Pedalboard weg). Allerdings wird der Klang für meinen Geschmack viel zu viel komprimiert, sodass Lautstärkeunterschiede zwischen den Passagen deutlich wahrnehmbar sind. Je nach Musikstil mag das bei einem Fuzz Pedal sogar gewünscht sein, aber in meinen Ohren klingt die exzessive Kompression einfach nicht gut. Im Vergleich finde ich den Green Russian Big Muff Pi richtig gut und zwar ohne zu viel Kompression, sogar wenn der Fuzz Regler (Sustain) auf Maximum ist.

Getestet habe ich mit einer Fender Stratocaster American Standard 2012 mit Custom Shop Fat 50's Single Coils, einer Gibson Les Paul Special 2001 mit P90 Tonabnehmern und einer Gibson Les Paul Traditional 2014 mit 1959 Tribute Humbuckers, der Amp war ein Mesa Boogie Mark 5 : 35 auf dem Clean Channel. Mit allen Gitarren war meine Schlussfolgerung gleich, wobei die exzessive Kompression bei den Humbuckers erwartungsgemäß am extremsten war.

Fettes Teil mit satten Distortion-Sound

Ein Fuzz, das auch gut als Distortion funktioniert. Es ist nicht sehr dynamisch wie die Ur-Fuzzes auf Germanium-Basis. Demgegenüber steht ein wirklich satter Sound. Das typische Fuzz-Grollen mit der tendenz zum "Absaufen" macht es schon recht gut, lässt sich mit einem Wah gut in der Obertonstruktur formen - so soll es sein.
Der retro-orientierte Fuzzist von Welt erwartetet natürlich das typische Ausdünnen des Sounds, das sich über das Zudrehen am Gitarren-Volume erreichen lässt. Das macht dieses Gerät ein wenig wiederwillig.
Wenn der Fuzz mehr als Booster benutzt wird - also mit ein wenig Fuzz-Zerre (max. 9 Uhr) und dafür mit höherem Output-Volume, dann arbeitet er offener, was mir mehr gefallen hat. Bei höherem Fuzzwert und vor cleaneren Amps verwandelt sich das Teil in ein Distortion. Auch nicht schlecht.
Die Verarbeitung macht einen soliden Eindruck.

It's not a distortion, not an overdrive, it won't give you metal cut. It's not a typical fuzzface, but rather an octavio with removed higher octave. That results in a bassy mayhem if you crank it up to the max fuzz. But at low fuzz settings it has nice dynamics, good response to articulation, and pleasant sound. It cleans up nicely with volume knob. It sounds best with a single coil in the bridge position. Most reviewers on the net use it incorrectly - they crank the fuzz to the max and play it with humbuckers... so it sounds like a bassy noise. I'm happy with this pedal. It really does sound like Hendrixes crazy live stuff, is unique and usable. The only con may be the fuzz control with enters strange territories above 12'o clock.

Inspirierend und authentisch

Absolut fantastisches Pedal! Ich bin grundsätzlich noch nie ien Freund des Fuzzsounds gewesen. War mir immer zu kratzig und klang für mich so als wäre was kaputt.:-) Aber dieses Hendrixfuzz ist anders. Es klingt absolut warm und voll und gibt dem Ton eine tragende Substanz die in jeglichem musikalischen Kontext von Vorteil ist. Die Bemalung ist außerdem einzigartig. Ein wirklich besonderes und schönes Pedal! Der Klang ist überaus authentisch und man kann damit den späteren Hendrixsound perfekt reproduzieren. Macht Spaß und ist eines meiner absoluten Lieblingspedale geworden.
