Cort Artisan Space 5 SDG

It looks great on product photos and in person too, but there are downsides to this bass. I’ll start with the worst problem - the bridge, I put Warwick 41301 M 5B strings on it, and action of the saddles of strings 3 and 4 can’t go low enough to even get inside the 2.4 mm range that Cort recommends in their bass user manuals. Furthermore, the bridge doesn’t allow to fix scale lengths, meaning the saddle is free to move back and forth, should you nudge it a little bit.
34” doesn’t seem long enough for the 5th low B string, - it is flimsy, sounds weak and buzzes on the frets a lot.
I didn’t manage to minimize the fret buzz, no matter how much I adjusted the truss rod and action. I’m no pro at this, but I can use a thickness gauge and my brain.
Also there are many roughy spots where the top is glued the the body, as if someone st Cort didn’t sand those spots nearly enough.

The sound of strings 1-4 is good, though, worked for me.

I've owned many basses but this one is by far the best I've ever owned. The build quality is incredible and it plays/sounds great. I bought this with the hopes of down tuning it to drop G for my band, but unfortunately the nut doesn't take thicker stuck gauges well, so I'm stuck using a pitch shifter, but it still sounds great. I'm looking at getting a custom nut made so I can have it set up exactly how I want it.

The soft case it comes with is also high quality and super practical (it has a velcro strap inside to hold the bass in).

Habe schon lange einen Headless Bass als Reisebass gesucht. Ich wollte einen richtigen Body, kein Paddel. Als der Space 5 auf Bildern erschien war ich gleich hin und weg. Ich mag das shaping des Bodys und diesen tiny headstock. Also einen bestellt und wieder zurück geschickt. Er war defekt, gab keinen Ton von sich und sah auch anders als auf den Bildern aus. Eigentlich fast nur schwarz und die Pappeldecke war nicht offenporig sonder schon eher durchschossen. Dann kam der zweite und blieb. Sehr gut verarbeitet, Sound echt prima und die Optik fast wie auf den Bildern schön grün und leicht violett auf der Rückseite des Bodys. Der Bass geht ab jetzt auch als Ersatzbass mit auf die Bühne. Er ist sehr leicht, immer in tune und deckt im Notfall einige Sounds meiner viel teureren Arbeitstiere ab. Leider hat er keine passive Tonblende......aber irgenwas ist ja immer. Der Gigback ist auch prima und massgeschneidert. Was will man mehr für relativ wenig Geld.
Jetzt muss er nur noch richtig einschwingen ( ich finde neue Instrumente immer ein wenig steril) und vielleicht andere Saiten bekommen dann bin ich echt sehr happy.
update.....stainless steel strings passen sehr gut zu dem Bass !!
