Leuk voor beginners en kinderen, maar verder niet zo nuttig.

Zoals ook overal op internet te lezen is, is dit best een prima instrument, vooral voor deze prijs. Het geluid klinkt als een trombone, maar mist het koperen randje. Het mondstuk wat erbij zit zou ik wel zo snel mogelijk vervangen door een metalen mondstuk.

Het grootste nadeel is de schuif. Deze is van carbon gemaakt, en als je eenmaal een echte schuif gewend bent, wil je niet meer terug. Hij geeft ontzettend veel weerstand.

De grote voordelen zijn:
1. het gewicht. Het instrument is ontzettend licht.
2. Geen deukjes, dus kind-proof, om het zo maar te zeggen.
3. Goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding.

Ik heb er een paar weken mee in de band gespeeld, maar ben heel snel overgestapt op een metalen trombone omdat die van plastic het 'koperen randje' en projectie mist.

This tbone is as good taking bumps as is sounding good!

I recently bought this instrument for my 11 year old kid who is taking lessons and since day one he felt in love with it. It sounds really good and it can take an accidental beating. I have friends that are professional trombone players (I'm a professional bassist myself) and must of them have one or are planning to buy one. One of them recently had his trombone being repaired because of a fall and borrowed my kid's trombone for a couple of days. He fell in love and recently bought three in different colors, he said that they are of very high quality and for the price they are a steal. I remember the day my kid dropped it by mistake from his bicycle right before his lesson. When we opened it to check it was like it never happened. A normal trombone would have been smashed, this one not a scratch. A lot of trombone players take this one to the gigs abroad. The pBone definitely gives you peace of mind when you're on the road.

Good for less serious and outdoor gigs

The pBone is a good looking lightweight plastic trombone which is not too bad for its price. It has a decent sound, although perhaps not as loud as a regular brass trombone. It comes with a plastic mouthpiece, which is a funny novelty. The horn and the bag are both very light and it's easy to carry the pBone along wherever you go. The plastic doesn't break easily so it's a good choice for outdoor playing in questionable weather conditions.

The biggest weakness of the pBone is the slide, as one might expect. The slide works quite nicely when it is clean and dry (it still makes some noice mind you), but after playing for ten minutes or so, some humidity and moisture gets between the inner and outer slide and it starts to stick somewhat. It can still be played, but it is annoying when compared with a regular slide. Slide creams and lubricants that I have tried made the slide worse: dry with nothing on works the best. The slide should get better over time as it is used more and the fiberglass should get smoother and smoother. Still, after a few years of occasional playing (more in the beginning), it is as bad as it was when I bought it.

The zipper in the bag broke a few weeks after I bought the pBone. The bag seems quite cheaply made.
