Is it the form?
qyyp, 05.11.2014
A Lakewood guitar should be the benchmark and the AER compact 60 III the favorite.
In a direct comparison with a Schertler, the favorite role was suddenly suddenly not so clear.
The Schertler was a bit too present - the Lakewood tried to give a little more shine than she already did. And the Compact 60 III? This was somehow too little - then better unreinforced.
Could this be, or did we have a bend in the ear?
We wanted to adjourn, when the sentence fell: "Here is another Slope ..."
I just wanted to say "... is the same as the Compact 60 III" - but when listening to it was clear: That is far from it!
The slope was it and he was more than clear! General perplexity spread. Why does the slope sound much better than the Compact 60 III?
Is it the form?
Has AER made something different here?
The two AER brothers sounded distinctly different and the slope had the better markings and the better, but not exaggerated, precision: with the slope the Lakewood sounded like this , As the Lakewood now sounds - exciting ;-)
The decision was made: AER Compact 60 Slope.
Disenchantment then came at the price:
The slope is more expensive than its "standard" brothers and much more expensive than the Schertler.
He is worth it!
A very clear recommendation!

After a few test gigs with borrowed AER Compact 60, I replaced my veteran Acoustasonic Junior with the Slope, which actually sounds even better as a "normal" AER. No matter if jumbo, dreadnought or12 string - always sounds like the unamplified instrument.
The ability to mix the effects with an external effect was also a purchase argument for me. The combination of pickup sound and micro-acceptance for my Dobro I did not get so good with my old amp. Chapeau.
