Very good, but consider the number of inputs

I love the retro design. It adds to the feel of my home studio. Everything feels great and sounds equally good. This device only has one input (which is well indicated) and I thought it wouldn't bother me too much. But it kinda does, since I record mostly guitar and vocals - switching the guitar lead to an XLR is commonplace now. Not the worst, but I'd probably opt to but the 2-input version instead.

The compressor and vintage settings offer a nice addition when recording demos or wanting to add a little bit of grit (vintage) and character (the comps are definitely not subtle!).

All in all a great device from a great company. Got a bundle of software with this one (I think it was a campaign) so the deal was a no-brainer.

A very controversial device.

It’s a very controversial device. On one hand, everything that’s advertised is technically there and does work. On the other hand, its real value, in my opinion, is around €120 or even less. Yes, it has a vintage preamp and a stripped-down compressor, but they perform poorly and introduce noise. Honestly, I never really understood where these features are actually useful in practice, so I don’t use them.
Without these “features,” it’s just a regular audio interface. The sound quality is good for its budget class, the build quality is solid, and it can easily drive 250-ohm headphones. However, there are cheaper interfaces on the market that perform better overall.
What disappointed me the most is the lack of loopback and the absence of even a very basic control console. Simply put, I don’t recommend it. You’re better off choosing Audient or Arturia.

Not for windows users

The device is gorgeous and well built, however, the issues start once you install the asio driver. Poorly written windows drivers cause crackles and pops during the output, distracting you from your mixes. Shame, because I was excited to use tue compression features. After some googling, I learned it’s a common issue for UA products and windows pcs. However, every trick the internet tells you to fix the crackling did not seem to work, so the volt has to go. Went for a focusrite scarlett instead and have 0 issues now.

Muchas gracias Universal Audio por liberarme de la tiranía de la Apogee Duet 3. Creía que fuera de ella, por su sonido más que nada, se me abría un abismo que solamente podía salvar con un gran desembolso, pero no. Para nada. Así que "so long Apogee", quédate con tu incómodo y brillante diseño por siempre. Tan minimalista y tan carente. Pierdo un canal de entrada pero gano en todo lo demás. Y accedo a los parametros que quiera modificar sin tener que seleccionarlos previamente a base de clicks. Dispongo ademas de un interruptor de encendido, de implementar un sonido mas analógico con el botón Vintage, de grabar con un compresor genial, el 76 compressor, y de monitorización directa con el botón Direct. Así de fácil, así de sencillo. Adios ruidos. Paso a la nueva interface. Te la recomiendo absolutamente. No se llama Apolo. Se llama Volt. Volt 176. Un auténtico golazo!
