This is not battery-powered like other Volcas

When ordering, I managed to miss the fact that this device doesn’t have an option of using batteries. I already had two Volcas and I just thought that this would be like them in that respect.

I’m going to solve that problem with these MyVolts cables:
- <a class="article link" href="myvolts_volca_power_splitter.htm">myVolts Volca Power Splitter</a>
- <a class="article link" href="myvolts_ripcord_9v_dc.htm">myVolts Ripcord 9V DC</a>
Once I get those I should be able to feed the mixer from a power bank.

The price isn’t awfully steep per se, though not cheap either (especially as I’ll pay extra for those cables...), if you compare it to some other mixers. I’ve had a hard time finding a battery/usb-powered mixer, though, so this will do for a while at least, even though it is a bit noisy. But the whole Volca phenomenon isn’t about hi-fi, anyway.

This mixer is okay for a setup where you necessarily need a mixer in Volca format. Like, you want to have a rack of four Volca's powered from a single external source.

Otherwise it is overpriced and sounds mediocre overall. For half this price you can get Behringer's or t'bone's mixer with USB audio interface and way more inputs, outputs and controls.

Anyway, even for a studio setup including several Volcas, I'd rather go with mixer from another manufacturer.

Nice little mixer, only useful with other Volca's

I bought this in addition with 2 Volca's. It does it's job well with limited features. After 1 month I only use it as a master clock device & sub mixer for mono volca's. You'll quickly run out of input channels what will force you to lookout for another mixer. The Volca mix uses 3.5mm jacks and you'll discover virtually all other mixers use 6.3mm jacks. Not recommended if you plan on expanding. I do recommend it if you stick to just 2-3 other Volca's and if you feel portability is important. I don't use the shared power feature in my setup as it generated a slight hum on high volume levels.

Volca powersplitter with audio mixer functions

It's okay as a portable mixer, perfect to start out with some other volca's because of the power splitting function. It does generate some slight noise when using it to power other volca's, might want to take this into account if you want to record.
