THE mic for your bigger rack toms

At this price, you can't go wrong with a d4 for micing your bigger rack toms. Even though there are smaller audix mics said to be used for rack toms, this is great for those 13+ inch rack toms where you need more boominess. The quality feel of this mic is also impeccable, and it comes in a nice bag and with a nice quality feel clip!

Perfect for floor toms

I'm using this on my 16" floor tom and love the sound I get - full, rich and deep.
Solidly built microphone, lovely build quality, though physically quite a large mic, and I can imagine this lasting for years and years of use.
I like it so much, I am going to buy a second one for my 14" tom to replace the Sennheiser I'm currently using.

Audix microphone are superb....this tom mic is no exception...great clarity and attack..cuts through a live mix. light weight easy to position.

Good allround mic for low end audio sources

I got this mic after watching some comparisons between a bunch of drum kick mics. Somehow this seemed the best sounding for its price, while not having exaggerated EQ. But since I'm recording a lot of metal, I felt I need a bit extra from the mic and am now waiting for the D6 to arrive, which is very popular for this music genre.
I might still use the D4 for close attack miking on the kick drum. I do like the sound on the high end.
