100% failure after 3 years
I have 2 of those. And after a few years (without abuse) they both developed the same problem: Suddenly the sound level jumps up A LOT and the sound is distorted. Power off for a while and then pray is the only solution.
It's not the valve or the known problem with the footswitch.
Support from Markbass has been abysmal with no answer whatsoever to my mails. There is a thread from another guy on Bassic.de (and he has no solution).
It's a great compressor if you plan to play russian roulette with the sound of your band or on your recordings. That's about it.
Hi, just to add that I think I managed to solve the the problem.
The problem is the flat ribbon connector at the top side of the unit (on the pot. PCB). You can not take it apart like the the one of the main PCB, but if you spray a bit of Deoxit where the cables are bitten by the metal in the connector (basically at the junction ribbon cable connector), the problem does not come back. Done on both units, no problems in 4 months.
