Swissonic USB Hub 1916

Five years after purchase and this is only just now looking like it might need replacing (me not leaving any space above it in the recent heatwave might not have helped either, oops). Yes, it is expensive for "just" a USB hub. But it has been heavily used almost every day in that five years. So, even though this might have just died, i still feel that i probably got my moneys worth.

I noticed another review where someone with a similar set up to me said that they had a small issue. I found that just turning things on in a different order fixed that same niggle for me. So no biggie.

One other thought though, if you are looking for a big USB hub like this because some of your music hardware can take it's power from the USB then just know that some devices (famously the Arturia Beatstep) make a LOT of background hum if powered this way. That's not the fault of this device, but i just wish i'd known that sooner when shopping for equipment.
