Jackson Audio Twin Twelve

Bought this pedal because of the Jackson Audio advertisement and out of curiosity how good can such an amazing design pedal sound. First impression is the pedal itself is pretty heavy. Wonder why JA made it from steel, when original amp chassis is from aluminum, which would be closer to original and cheaper for sure (4 of 5 stars). It would also get old the same way as the original amp. After switching it on I was surpised how musical and insipring the pedal sounds. Think amp sounding pedal. Tone stack doesn't react so intensively, in comparison with other pedals. On the other hand, any sound you turn in sounds really good. I have played it with 52 RI Telecaster through tweed Champ and Deluxe, with amazing results.
Read some negative opinions on JA quality, so I was curious if this would be the case. Unfortunatelly it was also this case. After two days of testing I noticed ~0.5 sec delay between switching the pedal and distorted sound sound. I don't think it's the switch itself, rather some issue with charge pump circuit vs pedal circuit itself.
This and ss chassis (instead of aluminium) are the main reasons I have returned the pedal. Othewise I would keep it and the ~300Euro price tag would be perfectly reasonable for the piece of history pedal.

Das Original in Amp-Format habe ich noch nie gespielt, aber dafür nun die Reproduktion in Bodentreter-Format. Man hat tatsächlich das Gefühl, wann würde einen Röhren-Amp spielen - dynamisch, druckvoll und über das V-Poti der Gitarre perfekt steuerbar. Von klaren Clean-Sounds bis zu nahezu Fuzz-artigen Overdrive-Sounds bei voll aufgedrehtem Gain. Das Teil klingt vintage, halt wie ein Amp aus den 60ern. Dan Auerbach und Jack White lassen grüßen.
Der Treter ist massiv gebaut und perfekt verarbeitet.
Der Preis ist für mich vollkommen angemessen.

Pour ceux qui tombent sur cette pédale un peu par hasard: elle est sensée simuler un ampli plutôt culte aujourd'hui (bien qu'étant très cheap à l'origine, j'y reviens plus tard): le Silvertone Twin Twelve.

J'ai commencé la guitare parce que j'étais particulièrement fan du jeu de Jack White. J'ai passé toutes ces années à orienter mon jeu dans son style (blues, stuttering, big muff, whammy, etc), mais il me manquait toujours ce petit truc qui fait que ça sonne vraiment Jack White à la sortie.
J'ai acheté cette pédale un peu par hasard, curieux de voir si ça allait vraiment faire la différence, et j'ai été incroyablement surpris.

Tout y est : l'espèce de compression très très enervée quand on vient gratter une corde, la dynamique hyper réactive qui fait qu'on peut se lancer sur un petit solo de blues discret joué au pouce en clean pour au final sortir d'un coup des powerchords explosifs qui font tout de suite apparaître la saturation (Ball and Biscuit typiquement), et bien sur le son qui s'arrète net avec ce légendaire "humpf" bien sourd quand on vient stopper un accord net avec la main.
Je m'amuse vraiment à me refaire tous les sons de Jack White que j'ai appris durant toutes ces dernières années et à chaque fois c'est la même claque : ça sonne enfin exactement pareil.
Vous pouvez même vous amuser à pousser le volume et le gain à fond pour avoir ce son très fuzzy/compressé qu'on retrouve pas mal dans le rock plus actuel (Royal Blood, etc).

Si je devais quand même prévenir concernant les points négatifs : la réplique de l'ampli est fidèle au point où le son est (comme l'original) assez "brouillon". Donc bien que ça soit volontaire et que ça soit justement très utile pour certains styles de jeu, ça reste particulier et ça peut ne pas convenir à tout le monde, notamment si vous voulez enregistrer des choses proprement et que vous n'êtes pas forcément calé en mix.

À part ça, rien à redire: la promesse est tenue sous tous ses aspects. Si vous aimez le blues rock/garage, le stoner, les White Stripes, Raconteurs et Dead Weather, foncez. Vous allez vous amuser comme jamais !

Dernière recommandation: j'utilise le Micro Amp de MXR pour vraiment m'amuser avec la dynamique. Ce n'est pas obligatoire mais si vous voulez vraiment vous amuser à avoir un jeu très "organique", ça peut vraiment vous aider :)
