IK Multimedia iLoud MTM MKII

After years of working in different studios and using a wide range of studio monitors, I recently found myself in a completely new situation—moving into a house in Portugal that is far from an ideal acoustic environment for music production. Despite this, I’m already finishing my next project here, and to my surprise, I’m achieving great sound and clarity without a fully treated room.

Of course, experience plays a big role, but what really impressed me is the quality of these monitors for the price. The level of detail, the balanced frequency response, and most importantly, the ability to tweak the settings to match the room’s characteristics make them incredibly versatile.

I wasn’t expecting such precision and depth in this price range, but these monitors have exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for reliable, adaptable, and well-balanced speakers that can handle different acoustic environments, I’d definitely recommend checking them out.

After using the iLoud Micro Monitors for a long time, I decided to upgrade to the iLoud MTM MKII—and it honestly feels like I’ve unlocked a whole new level of clarity and inspiration in my setup.

These monitors deliver an impressive sense of depth, tight low-end, and detailed stereo imaging that I wasn’t getting before. Even without using ARC (I didn’t run the calibration), they still sound incredibly balanced in my untreated room. The bass is focused and punchy, yet controlled—something that really helps when building grooves or checking mixes.

What makes them special to me is how they helped me reconnect with music after a long period of creative stagnation. I’ve been slowly rebuilding my routine, from daily piano practice to working on synth ideas again, and these monitors have made that process smoother and more enjoyable. I trust what I hear, which helps me stay in the flow instead of second-guessing every sound.

They’re compact, easy to place, and surprisingly powerful for their size. If you’re upgrading from smaller monitors like the iLoud Micro, you’ll immediately feel the difference. For me, it was the right move—and a motivating one.

Die Boxen sind echt der Hammer. Ich kann es bis heute nicht glauben, was aus diesen 2 Dingern rauskommt.
Aber der Reihe nach:
Die Boxen sind sehr gut verarbeitet. Nichts wirkt billig oder klapprig.
Eine übersichtlich gestaltete Rückseite mit diversen Klangeinstellungsmöglichkeiten.
Eine schicke, moderne hochwertig wirkende Frontseite.
Was mir besonders gut gefällt: an der Unterseite befinden sich pro Box 2 Gewinde (3/8" - 0+20 Grad) mit denen sie normalerweise mit einer Schraube, auf den im Lieferumfang enthaltenen Tischstativen, die im Übrigen auch ganz nice sind, befestigt werden.
Ebenso kann man die Monitore aber dementsprechend auch auf einem Mikrofon Stativ positionieren.
Das ist bei mir der Fall, da ich auf meinem Arbeitstisch keinen Platz mehr hatte. So spart man sich teure Monitorstative.
Hier wurde mitgedacht - sehr schön.
Beim ersten Soundcheck merkt man schon...oha, das ja fett...
Aber die wahre Magie kommt noch.
Mit dem mitgelieferten Kalibrierungsmikrofon kann man in wenigen Schritten die Boxen auf den Sweetspot bzw auf den Raum optimieren.
Hier nutzt man die von IK Multimedia bereitgestellte X Monitor Software.
Schönes Ding, ganz easy.

Im Kalibrierungsmodus klingen dann die Schmuckstücke richtig genial.
Mächtig Druck, klare Höhen und Mitten und ein wahnsinnig geiles Stereobild. Die Dinger sind jeweils so groß wie ne kleine Müslipackung, aber können meiner Meinung nach ganz oben mitspielen.
Horizontal aufgestellt ( in den mitgelieferten Stativen) sehen die Beiden auch nett aus, klingen aber für mich lange nicht so ausgewogen.

Ich hab wirklich schon mit vielen Monitoren gearbeitet u.a mit Yamaha HS 80, KRK, Presonus usw... Tatsächlich gefallen mir die iloud Kisten am Besten!
Zusätzlich nutze ich noch ein Paar Focal Alpha Eva 65, die ich auch mega finde, aber ich erwische mich immer mehr dabei, wie ich mich im direkten Nahfeldbereich in die MTM MK II verliebe.
Als große Studioabhöre habe ich noch Genelecs, die bleiben natürlich wo sie sind :-)

Warum nach dem ganzen Lobgesang also nur 4 Sterne?
1-2 Kleinigkeiten habe ich auszusetzen...

- Die Boxen haben keine Standby-Funktion
- Ein relativ hohes Eigenrauschen im "Stillstand"
( hier unbedingt sehr gut abgeschirmte Kabel benutzen)
- Knapp 1000 Euro Verkaufspreis für das Paar
Ich hab es noch nicht bereut, allerdings ist das ja auch gerade vllt im Bereich Hobby ein ganz schöner Batzen Knete....(ist es aber wert ;-)

Alles in Allem trotzdem eine wirklich klare Kaufempfehlung von mir!!
