Excellent Bass

I purchased this Fender Player Precision Bass as a good addition to my collection of basses and as a dependable studio and live work horse.

At present I use this bass for home practise.
I will have no hesitation in using this bass for home recording or live gigs when the opportunity arises.

Pros:
Electrics & Pick-Ups are solid and sound great.
Back of neck is smooth.
Fretboard is what you would expect!
Bass is a good weight.
Tuning Pegs & Bridge are of a high standard.

Cons:
There are no Cons!

In short this is a fine bass for any level of bass player without a doubt. This bass is excellent value for money and gives any bass out there a run for it's money and would probably win!

More than solid

I used to play bass in a band many years ago and now I am just a music enthusiast with the best hobby ever. To cure the lockdown depression, I decided to finally treat myself with one of the two bass guitars I always wished to own (the other one being Rickenbacker 4003S) and I bought Fender Player Series p-bass PF BLK. For (relatively) acceptable price I got a real Fender sound and feel. Must say that I did take it to a luthier to adjust the action and smooth out frets' edges (and to replace the white scratchplate with a way more appealing black one...:), but the neck was already perfect and nothing else required an adjustment. And now I own an instrument I always desired. It sounds and feels great and it looks really good.

Brand New - With A Fault

Firstly. Slow delivery. Secondly the Bass arrived with a fault. The pickguard isn't fitting flush so the volume and tone are at different angles. Now it's no longer in stock so end result - no guitar! Over two weeks since I paid for the guitar and I still have no refund. I returned it immediately but Thomann seem unable to issue a refund immediately. For their mistake it really is unacceptable. I expected and paid for much better. Terrible customer service.

Très satisfaisant

Je joue sur Fender depuis plus de 30 ans maintenant. J'ai eu des PB et des JB américaines (Deluxe, Standard, American Vintage). Et pourtant je suis réellement très satisfait de ma nouvelle "petite" PB !
Les plus pour moi sont :
- les mensurations du manche, ni trop gros, ni trop fin, on est réellement entre la JB et la PB.
- Une très belle finition. Un vernis manche très doux et agréable au toucher. Le pickguard est blanc légèrement écru, ce qui est du plus bel effet sur la couleur noire du corps. La basse ne fait absolument pas "cheap". La touche en pao ferro est très belle et se rapproche du palissandre traditionnel au point de vue du toucher. Le bois est plus veiné que du palissandre, ce qui lui donne une très belle apparence.
- Les frettes sont bien usinées et n'accrochent pas la main.
- L'excellente surprise vient du micro. j'avais déjà prévu de le changer pour mettre un haut de gamme mais pour le moment en tout cas je le garde car je n'ai rien à lui reprocher. Il sonne comme un bon micro PB, relativement moderne quand même, plus moderne qu'un PB '57 (pour citer un exemple que je connais). On est plus dans le registre des PB '70, mais avec un fort niveau de sortie. Grâce au contrôle de tonalité on a bien la polyvalence d'une PB.
- Sortie du carton, je n'ai pratiquement rien retouché aux réglages d'origine. Je vais attendre qqs mois que le manche se stabilise pour essayer d'optimiser les réglages, mais pour l'instant c'est tout à fait correct.

Pas grand chose de négatif, à part :
- les cordes Fender d'origine que j'ai tout de suite changées pour des Ernie Ball roundwound 45-105.
- On aurait aimé une housse avec.

Les productions Fender US deviennent hors de prix mais heureusement, les productions mexicaines récentes montent en qualité (j'ai aussi une JB Vintera '70 dont je suis très satisfait) donc pourquoi se priver ?
