Synth awesomeness
Well built, as any other Boss' pedals. Some sounds are great, some are less great but hey, you've got 121 combinations to play with and you will definitely find at least 10 or 20 or more variations that will be great for you for recording or just having fun, and one or more combinations that you may use for playing live to spice your solos or chords. Works great with the single coils too.

Never easier to get synth tones on guitar
Since i heard albums like, "somewhere in time", "seventh son of a seventh son" and "turbo", i was really fascinated by that synth driven futuristic sound. When i discovered that the artists have used guitar synths i tried to find one but they were really pricey. Well, not anymore!! Boss did it again and delivered a guitar synth in a stomp and the best part is that you don't need to have a midi pickup to use it!! It has a vast array of sounds, from leads and pads to bass and sequences!! Furthermore it has an fx loop that expands the sonic experimentation!! It tracks fast and the polyphony is great!! I'd prefer it to have some more options for sculpting the sounds and some presets but at that price and footprint we can't ask for more. Also an expression pedal unlocks even more it's potential. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes synths sounds, or who is after the classic tones from the albums i mentioned or to anyone who wants to experiment with sounds!!

Great fun- but lack of presets could be an issue.
This is an absolute joy to play around with and definitely opens up new creative avenues!
Pros: Huge range of sounds and the sensitivity, responsiveness and lack of latency are amazing.
Cons: There are no presets and with internal and external dials for each control that adds to a lot of fiddling around.
Also YOU REALLY NEED AN EXPRESSION PEDAL to make the best use of the SY-1. (It works well with my moog pedal).
I briefly contemplated 3 stars for these last issues- but it would not have been a fair score as this unit really is incredible in how it can completely transform your sound in real time! Would definitely recommend.

Excellent pedal
Delivered quickly - great price. The pedal is excellent, I've a number of synth pedals - and this one really has some interesting sounds in it. It tracks really well, it doesn't appear to glitch at all. It always puts a smile on my face! I showed it to my nephew, and he was completely hooked! I didn't see him for the afternoon :-) Another excellent pedal from Boss, and an simple an easy purchase from Thomann

A real gutar synth
Great pedal.
I have had a lot of fun with this, and it has been the inspiration for new compositions. Great for funk and jazz.

Great Pedal
Wide variety of sounds, easy to set up, well built, good features. Quickly became indispensable on my board for a handful of sounds. Only issue is not having any way to quickly swap between settings - if there was an option to add an a/b switch in some way it would be amazing. But still, great pedal.

Very good, with a few issues
Pros:
If careful, with ambient pedals, can produce heavenly sounds. I produced some unrepeatable demos and tracks with it. It sounds like more than an instrument, a keyboard or synth, because of the integration with the guitar.
Can blend the guitar and synth sound.
Has two outs
Cons:
Often the upper mids, high notes on the guitar are not registered well by the pedal, as if you turned down the volume almost all the way
The sounds are often overpronounced and toyish, the pedal is very, very sensitive

Little Sonic Wonder
Boss delivers, one more time, an affordable synth pedal with lots of possibilites packed in that iconic little metal box. I've been using it with my Tele for ambient pads and am very happy with the results. Thanks again, Thomann!

A-mazing!
Some extraordinary sounds from this pedal - and the tracking? Incredible. You just don't notice any delay from pick to speaker. Forget any of those Roland pickups or triggers. If this isn't enough for you get the bigger brothers. Truly lush.
