Boss AC-3 Acoustic Simulator

When I bring this pedal first time in garage and plugged in, my friend said it is magic sound! I bought it specially for using with electric guitar to get at least something similar to acoustic sound. And it doing its job!
From my practice its giving the best acoustic effect with single pickups and surprisingly with active EMG's 66-7H and 57-7H.
Tried it with Shaller piezo tune-o-matic bridge and its sounds good only on smaller volume and with big microphonic effect.
Minuses - it has high frequency background noise and it just "eating" batteries.

Nice sounds very effective through a PA or acoustic amplifier. I purchased mine to avoid having to carry an extra guitar around but would only recomend you use them through a pa or acoustic amp as electric guitar speakers in my opinion don't do this pedal any favours. Really good for recording and alot cheaper than buying a nice acoustic guitar!

I play in an acoustic duo and decided to try this with my Strat in leiu of my acoustic guitar with a Fishman soundhole pickup. Amazing, the AC-3 and Strat sound more "acoustic" than the real acoustic guitar. People do a double take when they see me playing the Strat, getting that full lush acoustic tone. I love it!! And the bonus is that leads are soo much easier to play on the Strat than on the acoustic!! I've been using it about a month now. Awesome!! It should be noted however that there is a slight hiss when playing through the AC-3 which can be quite annoying.

It should be better in my opinion, given Boss reputation. The sound is not so stick to acoustic effect, i had different expectation.. would not buy again.

Solid and high quality manufacturing, as usual from Boss, but the sound is too weird with my Les Paul and I have difficulties in finding an acoustic vibe to play with an ‘an acoustic feeling’

I think this pedal may took place in someone's pedalboard but not in mine.

I found the sound really "artificial" but maybe it depends from my guitar.

It's better to use the money to buy a good microphone and use your real acoustic guitar imho.

From a constructive point of view, it's a boss pedal so almost perfect.

going into a soundboard from the di out, it sounds pretty good. depending on the guitar, i flip through the presets till something sounds realistic. every guitar i have seems to need a different setting, so i cant really say that one is better, it just depends. the "guitar amp out" sound pretty bad to my ears though. i tried it on a tube amp and on a solid state, but i will just use it DI into the soundboard if i need it.
