My son(15, classical guitar) and I use this as both an Otamtone in the normal sense, and as a ribbon controller for a sampler, In both cases it gives a beautiful sound* through the much larger internal speaker, the ribbon is much easier to use with adult size hands (I find the original a little small) and the wah-wah mouth is excellent.

For me, the larger size, better ribbon controller, and controller, audio output, and external power make this is a big improvement on the original.

* In native mode it sounds like an original Otamatone but if you are reading this I assume you know what that sounds like.(it is not for everyone)

I bought this as a birthday present for my friend and honestly it was so fun to play only I wasn't that great at playing it. But she loved it and honestly it made me want to buy another one as it is a very funny and nice instrument. Sadly I haven't gotten around to buying another one as I've been very pre occupied with teaching but as soon as I feel like a new instrument I know this is what I'm going to purchase.

I had the smaller one of these, Picked up the bigger one for more range and tone. Did no dissapoint.

L'Otamatone, c'est comme les flutes de nez, ça s'achète en connaissance de cause: C'est le meilleur instrument du monde, mais que pour les blind tests à l'apéro ;-) Et puis le concept est culte, et l'objet complètement décalé.

Alors oui, vu l'impossibilité quasi totale de "trouver" la bonne note sur le ruban, et le ruban en lui même, qui demande des doigts de minipouces pour attraper un demi-ton sans faire un canard, bref on sait qu'on en sortira jamais une mélodie répétable, ou exploitable en compo ou en production. Mais c'est pas grave, ce n'est pas son utilité.

C'est juste hyper ludique, et ça a un succès fou dans les soirées entre amis. Tout le monde, même un "non musicien", arrive quand même à tirer une mélodie reconnaissable de ce truc injouable. Du coup, et pour le prix, j'en suis à le commander en cadeau aux potes musiciens, qui revienne tous avec le même avis: C'est le truc le plus rigolo du monde, avec le son le plus agaçant du monde :-D

Pour ce qui concerne la version Techno, la sortie audio offre la possibilité de repasser le son dans un ampli, des effets ou un synthé. Cela permet des expérimentations originales (dues au jeu au ruban, et du sélecteur de tonalité qui, dans la tonalité basse... sort vraiment des basses) et de sortir des sons "de l'espace".

La qualité de fabrication est très correcte, et c'est un jouet d'accord, mais solide.

Pas essayé l'appli (uniquement iOs), mais quel intérêt (?) c'est le son de base et la wha-wha mouth qui sont cultes.
