This agogô bell is a very nice piece of kit. It's solidly put together and has a clean, rich tone which fits well in latin and african style pieces without the heavy presence a cowbell can often produce. I'd have liked the pitches of the two bells to have been a bit closer to give a slightly more subtle effect but that's just a matter of taste and anyway, different effects will be needed for different tunes. And it is very cheap so I shouldn't complain! Good sound and quality is more than enough at this price!
Delivery was a bit slower than Thomman's usual - this arrived separately from another item. Fair enough - stock won't always be instantly available - but a warning would have been nice. When I realised the agogo was going to come later, I emailsed Thomman to ask if another little item could be included in the delivery (although I thought it would probably be too late) but I never got a response. I was surprised since Thomman's service (dealing with a faulty product for example) has always been 1st class in my expereince.

Great clicking sound by squeezing the two bells together. Solid build. My car will break down before these.

I bought this because I sometimes end up playing gonguê, but I don’t grt a lot of opportunity to practise it on my own, and so I wanted to be able to experiment a bit at home with the kinds of patterns you play on a gonguê.

For the price, I really can’t complain. The sound is a bit too bright and clean for what I personally want right now, but in the right context it will sound fine.. The only serious drawback for me is that the decay, particularly on the lower bell, is very long. I find that I have to wrap my hand around the lower bell to dampen it enough, while holding my wrist awkwardly in order to try to dampen the upper bell a bit at the same time. If you don’t do this, the lower bell will never stop ringing while you are playing, which will quickly become annoying.
