Versatile mini amplification

Pro's
With some velcro (heavy duty) on strap and tiny base-plate of Amplug + a non-bluetooth (old-style) mini (twin) speaker from Philips (about 20 euros)...you have a very powerful mini set-up which may surprise you in volume and sound characteristics and MOBILITY. If you just want distorted sounds...it can do them fine but you could also use other mini amps for this purpose. If, however, as many do...wish to use clean + reverb...this is probably your best option at this size and weight. The addition of either the Philips (toblerone-choco-bar shaped) speaker or "Trust" (tiny mini-rechargeable speaker...if still available? guitarists...and electric mandolin/mandola players in particular can get a decent sound in a very portable package for very little outlay.
Con's
Very small switches, batt. access = tiresome. Personally I would prefer a socket to a jack plug connection.

Geweldig als "oefenversterker"

Geluid en features zijn top! De bediening vergt wat gewenning omdat de bijschriften van de knopjes tijdens het spelen natuurlijk niet of slecht te zien zijn. Verder worden niet alle gitaren blij van zo'n dikke klont er aan vast: mijn tremolo-pookje botst ermee. Daarom hang ik hem aan een kort verlengkabeltje. Erg blij mee.

Excellent tool for practicing, with some minor ergonomical issues

I bought the Vox Amplug 2 looking for a way to practice in a manner that is as lightweight and hassle-free as possible: minimum number of cables/equipment; just plug and play.

This is literally it; plug and play.

I keep my headphones connected to this Vox at all times, and all I have to do to start playing is plug it into the guitar. That's it. Top marks for ease-of-use regarding getting started.

The sound quality is excellent; even better than I expected. After you spend some minutes tweaking it to your liking, you're in sound heaven.

Where things could be improved is the way you change the settings. If you only play in one style, this won't affect you. You set it once, and it remembers the setting even after power down. This is excellent. However, if you need to switch, say, from overdrive to clean, or – especially – from chorus to reverb, then you're in trouble. You definitely can't do that mid-song. You need to stop playing, turn the guitar around, and fumble with the controls. Not ideal, but it is what it is.

All in all, however, it's excellent for the price. I'd buy again!

Simply fantastic and works with Uke as well

Bought this to use on my Fender Uke Strat electro acoustic. Was a bit apprehensious at first as to what the sound would be like on the headphones (or connected to a speaker) with a Uke instead of a guitar... but as soon as I plugged it in and played with the different modes and settings, I couldn’t stop smiling. I am pretty much a beginner so imagine what a better player could do with it! A very versatile little device that compliments the Uke’s original sound or with a few setting tweaks can give it that raw electric guitar sound.
