Great original bass tone at a tiny price tag

The Gretsch Junior Jet II bass sounds nothing like any other bass on the market. It has some of that classic P punch, a bit of J "twang" and lots of T-bird growl but it's quite original in its own right.

I prefer it strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky strings (2832) and occasionally with Pyramid Gold flats. I also fitted a Hipshot D-tuner (H20600C) and it takes a low D with no problems at all (at somewhat high action).

The bass is comfortable to play, much more so than my bulky old Gretsch Broadkaster bass used to and due to the short scale it's easy to get some nice string bending going, even at the lower frets.

The only remark I have is that it could have a bit of a body shaping to it but I guess you've got to justify the low price with a few drawbacks.

All in all this is an absolute steal for the price and a great looking bass too, the finish and construction are flawless.

Pairs well with the Tech21 Bass Fly Rig so this is my smallest, lightest and still best sounding setup, aside from going all tube of course but that's incomparable by nature ;o)

Beautiful bass

Got this after a lot of research looking for a short scale bass. Plays beautifully straight out of the box, lovely finish and classy design. Good clear communication from Thomann.

Ottimo basso

Ottimo basso dal suono tutto suo, particolarmente potente sia al pickup manico con bassi profondi sia al pickup al ponte con suono più chiaro adatto ad essere usato con distorsioni ed effetti.
Non per niente è attualmente ancora usato da Mike Kerr dei Royal Blood. Hardware non è paragonabile ad un Fender ma cmq mantiene bene l'accordatura e per questo prezzo è un ottimo strumento.

Very nice auch für Bassisten

Nach stundenlange ausprobieren von fast alle Bässe in diesem Preisklasse beim Thomann, blieb die Auswahl zwischen diese Gretsch und einen Sterling / Music Mann. Das Gretsch kam hier wie einen Kopfschmerztablette, leicht zu tragen, sehr leicht zu spielen und einen eigenen Sound die so gut wie alles abdeckte. Die Entscheidung war auf einmal sehr klar, das war das Bass für meine Proberaum und meiner Gastspieler. Für mich als Gitarrist perfekt, nur 4 Seiten 😉, short scale and easy to play!
Ich war sehr überrascht das diese Bass in China gebaut wurde, da die Qualität und Sound ausgesprochen gut war, beim Auspacken im Proberaum entdeckte ich auf der Rückseite Reste von Klebstoff nah der Halsplatte, also doch China. Macht nichts, kann einfach sauber gemacht werden. Eingestöpselt in meine Hartke Bass-Amp, Geile Sound könnte fast nicht aufhören, das Bass war gut eingestellt straight from the box. Nach 3 Wochen immer noch begeistert, für Gitarristen kann ich nur empfehlen, Bassisten auch!
