Fat sound, but not suitable for everything

I have an older one with the American flag logo that I bought used and this newer one with the blue logo seems to sound the same. I have these in a 4x12 cab together with two Eminence Governors in an x-pattern and the speakers complement each other perfectly. The Governor gives the raw mids and the Swamp Thang brings very thick and powerful bass and bright top highs, which makes this a great sounding 4x12. Construction of the speaker is great, but the price is a bit high and I imagine that they can sound a bit one-dimensional if you have four of these in a cab. This is definitely a specialty speaker and not suited for everyone, but it excels at what it is designed for.

I have two of these in a zilla closed back 2x12, plugged into my Selmer Treble n Bass/Laney AOR. I mostly play downtuned sludge, skramz, post-rock and noise.

Very clear sound across the guitar spectrum, sounding great with both cleans and distortion, to my mind a much more open sound than the standard v30 you find in most cabs on the market, works perfectly for rhythm work or as the sole guitarist in a band situation.

There is a thick, thumping bass sound to this speaker which is great for extended range or downtuned guitars, or just adding a bit of meat to your sound. However it's possible that this could get on the boomy side in a an open back cab.

While this speaker is aimed more at 7-string, modern high gain players I've found it to be perfect for cleans and a grittier, preamp/poweramp distortion sound.

Highly recommended to anyone looking for an alternative to the industry standard v30 sound.

I bought two Eminence speakers from Thomann.de. One is The Governor and Swamp Thang both 16 ohm to mix them up in 2x12 Marshall cabinet. Speakers sounds great. What a sound upgrade. Swamp Thang have punchy deep bass which I like for my music metal style. Great for cleans also. You won't be disappointed
