Die Warwick Corvette ist ein bildschönes Miststück!
Mir zumindest scheint die Adaption zur motorisierten Namensvetterin absolut schlüssig, da beide Modelle sich prima auf der Kurzstrecke in Szene setzen und jedem Liebhaber brachialer Brummigkeit süffisant ins Kontor boxen.

Doch wehe der Ausflug dehnt sich auf über 2 Stunden! Wie der Kollege weiter unten schon bemerkte, sind die werksseitig aufgezogenen Saiten nicht das wahre, also original Warwicks drauf und ab dafür. Nun, auch diese Freude währte nur kurz, nämlich genau solange, wie die Original-Batterie Bock aufn Job hatte. Wie lange, fragste? 2 Stunden! In einer anderen Rezension hier hatte ich gelesen, dass der User tagelang die Batterie nicht tauschen musste, das kann ich leider nicht bestätigen.

Jut, also neuen Powerpack rein und ab dafür. Nach geraumer Zeit hat sich nicht nur der Sound wieder verabschiedet, sondern sich auch ein Grip am Hals gebildet, welcher weder mit althergebrachten noch neuen Mitteln zu entfernen ist. Ich befürchte, das Teil ist einfach nur schlecht/minderwertig lackiert, was ich aufgrund des Preises schon sehr Schade finde.

Zusammenfassend ist die Warwick RB Corvette B 4 FL NBTS nichts für Anfänger und leider, zumindest in meinem Fall, auch nichts für Live- oder längere Probe-Sessions, ohne dem Basser mit nem Stieleis die Gewaltfantasien auszureden.

Ich spiele einen Warwick Thumb und einen Spector Euro, kenne also relativ teure Bässe. Nun wollte ich mich auf fretless „weiterbilden“, und nach gehörigem YouTube-Hören fiel meine Wahl auf dieses China-Billigteil (dachte ich). Aber was soll ich sagen - das Einzige, was nicht ganz hochwertig wirkt, ist das schlichte Holz des body und die einfache dunkelbraune Lasur. Stimmschrauben, Potis, Bridge, etc alles wie beim Thumb. Und auch Hals, Sustain, Bespielbarkeit sind fantastisch! Den Sound LIEBE ich, bin aber auch ein Warwick fan. Gewicht: 3.5kg - sehr angenehm! Bin begeistert.

Budget Warwick, but perfectly playable

I compared this with a twenty year old fretless thumb NT that I had also bought.

Yes, the thumb is better, but I was nevertheless surprised that the fretless rockbass's quality was respectful for the price. The maple neck reminded me a bit of a better version of budget Cort/Yamaha necks I have tried in the past, but at this price, I imagine it would not be cost effective for Warwick to use more exotic woods.

One thing I did not appreciate was the choice of strings, a poor choice for a fretless bass.

In conclusion, I would recommend this bass if on a budget for a fretless, but also budget in a string change at the start.

Corvette RB fretless

Very nice bass, plays lovely and feels comfortable, I've never tried a German Warwick but i have an American Fender and a Mexican one, and there is little difference, maybe one day I'll have the money for a German Warwick.
I marked the quality down one, purely due to the joint between the neck and fingerboard has a slight lip, which should have been sanded smooth, it's hardly noticeable, but it's there. Features wise, a passive switch would have been a bonus, but then maybe the pickups would have to change and not be as good, I don't know.
One thing for Thomann though, the Web site says "no gig bag or case", so I bought a Rockbag ready for my new toy, only to find the bass siting in a lovely Warwick Rockbag! Please amend the description to say if a bag is included.
