Marcus Miller M7 4st Fretless TBL 2nd Gen

C'est un superbe instrument autant esthétique qu'au niveau de la lutherie. Je passe d'une basse "short scale" à cette fretless et j'étais un peu inquiet. Quelques jours de pratique et je ne peux plus la quitter, on s'y adapte aisément. Elle est tellement agréable à jouer !
Niveau électronique, c'est l'usine à gaz avec un préampli très performant et des possibilités énormes + 2 switch permettant de modifier le câblages des micros. Malgré toutes ces possibilités, je préfère pour l'instant l'utiliser sans le préampli et avec les switch en position simple bobinage, le son est soyeux, superbe ! J'apprécie également le bouton permettant de passer progressivement d'un micro à l'autre qui multiplie encore les nuances sonores. Que du bonheur donc !

Vor ein paar Tagen erhielt ich meinen neuen Marcus Miller M7 4st Fretless TBL 2nd Gen, auf den ich sehr gespannt war. Für mich ist es der erste Fretless-Bass und ich hatte zuvor keinerlei Erfahrung damit. Doch schon jetzt weiß ich, dass ich meinen wirklich teuren aktuellen Bass bei einigen Stücken in unserer Blues-Rock-Band gegen den Marcus Miller M7 austauschen werde.
Ein klarer Vorteil für ungeübte Fretless-SpielerInnen ist natürlich, dass die Bünde eingezeichnet sind. So weiß man, wo man ist und welcher Ton kommen müsste.
Ich habe recht kleine Hände und muss weniger stark drücken, um einen guten Ton zu erhalten. Gerade bei einem Song, wie "Oh Pretty Woman" von Albert Collins, gehen die Finger leichter über die Saiten, als bei einem Bass mit Bünden.
Sehr schön klingen auch die Töne, wenn man auf dem Griffbrett rutscht. Man kennt den Klang, wenn man an Jaco Pastorius denkt. Die Optik des Marcus Miller M7 ist ebenfalls sehr ansprechend und das Gewicht von weniger als 4 kg tut meiner Schulter bei 2 Stunden Spielzeit gut.
Noch habe ich nicht alle Einstellungen durchgetestet, aber ich bin trotzdem schon jetzt sehr zufrieden mit dieser Anschaffung, die auch preislich in einem überschaubarem Rahmen liegt. Marcus Miller hat mit dem M7 4st Fretless TBL 2nd Gen ein sehr schönes Instrument auf den Markt gebracht.

Although I generally prefer a neck-thru design,I was attracted to this bass. It has a versatile preamp and a stunning finish (blue burst). Nice,fast fairly slim neck. Definitely a more "modern" sound than my Ibanez 705 or my modified Carvin LB75F. A pleasure dealing with Thomann. Good prices and very fast shipping to the USA. A tiny blem at the very tip of the headstock on arrival, not serious enough for a return. I look forward to dealing with them again.

As the headline suggest the bass plays and sounds great. You can watch some YouTube videos if you want to listen to the sounds. It sounds like that or could sounds like that. You have tons of sound options.

The paint job on mine ain't that great though. Maybe it was a little rushed? Mainly the headstock. I would say that it kinda sucks. Like a kid drawing within the lines. The Sire people failed at that, A lot.

But here is the thing. I only use the bass at home, so I kinda don't care. Just thought I'd mention that. Everything else is damn near perfect I would say.

I mainly do home recording stuff and though I haven't recorded in a useable mix. I would still say that it's a very good bass.

It's plays great, the hardware is great and the setup was also great. No faults.

Just some unsightly paint job here and there. So if that is important to you then keep that in mind. If you want great sounds and playability then this is the one and it will not disappoint I'm sure.

I kinda wish they had gotten the paintjob okay-ish. But they didn't and that is what it is and I'm not gazing at the bass, I'm playing it and for that task it is great.
