Raw look, warm sound

The cymbals in Zultan's Raw series are characterised by their raw, earthy look. The surfaces of the cymbals reveal the natural colour of the B20 bronze: The absence of a clean, polished finish is a very deliberate design decision here. All the Raw cymbals have a dark, dry response that melds perfectly with the rest of the kit – and the band – so they're perfect whenever musicians want warm, unobtrusive cymbal sounds. The cymbals are made in Turkey, the country in which the art of cymbal making is most highly developed and where cymbal smiths who have spent their lives perfecting their craft use traditional methods to create high-quality, beautifully musical instruments.

Zultan Raw Pro Cymbal Set

In tune with the music

Each cymbal in the Zultan Raw series is made from 80% copper and 20% tin – the premium B20 bronze alloy used for really high-end cymbals. Each piece is hand hammered, making every cymbal unique: Great care is taken during final tuning to ensure that the specified tonal tolerances are met. Not lathing the cymbals results, on the one hand, in their appealingly unusual look, on the other hand in a compact, slightly treble-reduced sound with a relatively short sustain. Thanks to these special acoustic characteristics, there is no risk that the cymbals of the Raw series will ever dominate the track they're played on. With a 14" Hi-Hat, a 20" Ride, and a pair of Crashes (16" and 18") the Zultan Raw Pro Cymbal Set consists of four plates that provide almost everything a drummer needs; it's a great way to get the full palette of sounds these warm, dry cymbals are capable of at a really affordable price. Of course, they look fantastic together too.

From Jazz to Electro and back again

Drummers from the genres of Pop, Fusion, Funk, and Jazz need dynamic cymbals with a fast response that are capable of blending homogeneously into different settings, and the Raw Pro set is perfect for the task: The cymbals can be variously played with sticks, rods, or brushes, and so the set is also suitable for unplugged sessions. Fans of hybrid drumming, in which acoustic and electronic sounds are on an equal footing, also often prefer cymbals with dry sound characteristics – one of the key features of the Raw series. This makes the set here a great way to begin building or to really round off any percussion setup.

Zultan Raw Pro Cymbal Set

About Zultan

To provide traditional craftsmanship at a fair price has been the guiding principle of Zultan ever since it was founded in 2000. The firm’s practice of selling directly to the end customer makes it possible to offer very customer-friendly prices. Nevertheless, the production process for Zultan’s trademark cymbals, which are made mainly in Turkey, is of the highest quality, a fact which has ensured they have also been a fixture in the Thomann range since 2011. The nearly 250 Zultan products cover several cymbal series, catering for all sectors of the music market. Zultan also offers accessories such as bags and drumsticks. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and manufacturing expertise, Zultan really does offer uncompromising quality at a reasonable price.

Mics love it Raw

The cymbals in this Zultan Raw Pro Set can be used flexibly with virtually no musical limitations, although they're probably not best suited to the very loudest styles. But thanks to this moderate volume profile and their balanced frequency spectrum, a set of Raw cymbals would actually be perfect in the studio, where it's best for a balanced mix if the drum mics pick up the cymbals as little as possible. Equally, even in locations with difficult acoustics, for example in halls with very high ceilings or in cold, boxy rehearsal rooms, the cymbals in the Raw series are sure to deliver very reliable results.

Absolutely love 'em!

I tried A LOT of cymbals... but in the process, I knew straight away that these were the ones for me. Not bright, not harsh... very musical sounding... very mellow but with a certain energy that will fit all genres (I play blues to metal). Lovely for recording (non of those harsh high / piercing overtone, like you get, for example, from PAISTE RUDE cymbals). Appearance is great; I love the RAW look and finish. Just one point to not; they will leave a bit of "dust" on your fingers at first; so a wipe down with dry cloth might be advised.

Value for money

This is a great mid range set. Sound is as described, warm without harsh frequencies. Hi-hat and ride sound awesome with good stick definition. 16" crash is good. I just expected the 18" crash to sound a bit more "alive". It's sounds kinda dull and drown out imo.

Also, the overall volume of the set is toned down (compared to brilliant finish cymbals) which helps a lot while playing in small spaces (studios and venues).

I play mostly metal and rock and I am pleased with this set. I also paired it with the 17" raw china but haven't received it yet.

Unheimlich trashige Becken
mfisc666 31.10.2025
