Classic looks, complex sound

With the Caz series, the Turkish cymbal specialist Zultan has created a collection of extremely inexpensive handcrafted cymbals made of premium B20 bronze. Their sound profile has been carefully tuned to make them ideal for Jazz, as well as other genres that tend towards the mellow. The cymbals are manufactured in Turkey using methods that have remained more or less unchanged for centuries, with a great emphasis on skilled handcraft – the simple, classic look of the cymbals is just as traditional as the workmanship itself. The Caz range includes numerous Crash, Crash/Ride, Ride, Sizzle Ride, and Hi-Hat models; two pre-configured sets are also available, including the three-piece Standard set here.

Quality craftsmanship at a competitive price

Merely mentioning handcrafted cymbals from Turkey is enough to get knowledgeable drummers and percussionists pricking up their ears. However, a look at the prices involved will often have their jaws dropping, too. This is exactly where Zultan's Caz cymbals come in: Rarely has so much musical mojo been available for so little money. Now, some of the premium models from the established brands truly are outstanding – but the Caz cymbals, which are completely hand-lathed and hammered over their entire surface, are extremely competitive contenders. All three of the cymbals on offer here share the Caz series' warm, earthy sound, with plenty of fine treble detail and a sensitive stick response suitable for Jazz – and much more.

Jazz in Turkish

Caz is simply the Turkish word for Jazz, and it's clear that these cymbals have been designed with that very purpose in mind. Jazz drummers need light instruments that react to the gentlest touch and deliver a balanced, harmonious sound across all dynamic levels, from soft to loud. Of course, this applies not only to Jazz, but to genres like Blues, Funk, Latin, and Soul, where Caz cymbals can also be played to their strengths. Comprising the drummer's classic three-piece cymbal setup – a 14" hi-hat, a 16" crash, and a 20" ride – this set is capable of delivering just the right sound for each of the aforementioned genres, and it responds well to rods or brushes, too.

Zultan Caz Series Standard Set, three-piece Jazz cymbal set

Jazz is just the beginning…

The Zultan Caz cymbals may have Jazz in their name, but can be used almost universally and are at home wherever pleasant, balanced cymbals are required – they have a warm sound spectrum without jarring frequencies. This is the case for all kinds of acoustic, unamplified music, which might includes unplugged guitar sessions, but also live Salsa gigs or Gospel concerts in churches. Of course, there's nothing to stop Caz cymbals being used with amplified music too, as long as they're played sensitively and with the right tools. The Caz Series Standard Set represents the perfect point of entry into the world of jazzy cymbal sounds – they're beatifully playable, suprisingly durable, and yet extremely affordable.

Sound more expensive than they are
liamano 24.03.2021
Take a top class zildjian, meinl, paiste....., remove the costly marketing budgets and brand name inflation, keep the quality of sound, what you are left with is the zultan caz cymbals.

Hi hats sounds way beyond their pricing and the ride can crash with the best of them. Would be 5 stars but the crash cymbal isn't quite as satisfying as the other cymbals

Great sound.

Compared to my Zildijan K sweet this cymbals sound great.

A big step up from Paiste 201 and Planet Z I used to own. Not as great as K sweet pack but definitely worth every euro.

Hihat makes nice full bright sound.
Crash is ok, for the price great.
Ride feels a little crackling between hits.

Can’t recommend more. Best for the price.

Great bang for your buck

Hi hats are just perfect; dry sound with good body.

I love the ride, has a nice bow and wash sound, but I would like a more defined bell.

The crash sounds too thrashy for me, but for the price I think I got a great deal overall!
