Seymour Duncan SCPB-1 BLK

Everything started with my preference for the telecaster guitar, design, simplicity and sound. and then discovered the Harley Benton PB-50 SB Vintage Series bass.
Ordered and turned into a trinket with just a few hand movements: body candy apple red, whipping board yellowed white and top plate accordingly honed. the playability 1A, the sound needed some eq tutoring that he sounded.
now come on the seymour duncan scpb-1.
Thomann called, if the pickup was just a nice part or a real enrichment. Answer: he makes a difference.
a few days later I received the pickup.
the exchange was a bit trickier than expected, as the milled out bass was precisely tailored to the wilkinson pu and the seymour duncan pu is a bit richer. after expanding a cutout and, as already mentioned in some comments, to install foam of packing of scpb-1 as underlay under the pu it could start.

at the soundcheck I did not work professionally, record track with wilkinson, then also with seymour duncan, then compare.
I started to play the bass and did not want to stop. have at the amplifier (yorkville B200, a miracle cube) the low centers at 15 o'clock and the heights at 9 o'clock.
pb-50 remains pb-50. the statement of the thomann employee, it makes a difference, is very correct.
fuller, deeper, growler, rounder - better in every way. I played a sound and left it standing, as it sounded so cool. So you can play sparingly - that sounds great.
with some foam at the brigde pushed under the strings, one has the flatwound sound without string changes. purists of course say that's not true. clear. but 80% of the flatwound effect is there. for free.

the investment in a good pickup was more than worth it.

for those who want to play a no frills, strong, rather central vintage bass, unconditional purchase recommendation.

to the installation: I made the enlargement of the cutout on the side hidden by the pickguard (direction neck), because I, as a kitchen table - handyman, this of course never as clean as a machine milled cut.
