Serious power, serious mixing

The smallest of the latest StudioLive Series III SE range, the Presonus StudioLive Series III SE 16 still packs the same impressive 40-channel mix engine, 16 XMAX-L mic preamps and 17 fully recallable, touch-sensitive motorised faders in a portable, rackmountable chassis. Designed for live engineers, AV technicians, and hybrid production setups, it delivers the same pristine audio quality and workflow as its Series SE III siblings, including the acclaimed Fat Channel signal processing with studio-grade EQ and dynamics on every input and bus. AVB audio networking, direct multitrack recording to SD card or computer, and seamless remote control via PreSonus Studio One and Universal Control are but some of its extended functionalities, making the Presonus StudioLive Series III SE 16 equally at home as a front-of-house console, a professional broadcast hub, and even a hands-on DAW controller in the studio.

Presonus StudioLive Series III SE 16

High-end processing and bus count

Featuring 26 mix buses in total, the Presonus StudioLive Series III SE 16 provides a wealth of routing options for monitor setups, subgroups, and effects. Every input and bus hosts a Fat Channel strip – high-end EQ, gate, compressor and limiter – powered by the dual-core FLEX DSP engine. The 40-channel mix engine and 16 XMAX-L mic preamps provide ample headroom, while AVB networking adds scalable inputs and outputs via NSB stageboxes and EarMix personal mixers. Performances can be recorded directly to SD card for standalone capture, or via USB to a computer for full DAW integration. Flexible patching, per-channel USB/AVB returns, and scene/project recall allow rapid changeovers between different setups, while the extensive I/O includes stereo aux inputs, ten analogue mix outputs including subgroup outs, and dual headphone jacks, making the console a more than capable hub in any setting.

Tailored for demanding workflows

Not only is the Presonus StudioLive Series III SE 16 extremely capable technically, it is also a true workhorse that adapts to any production environment, professional or semi-professional, be it in live sound, broadcast, streaming, or hybrid setups. Its combination of flexible routing, studio-grade processing, and scalable AVB networking is ideal for fixed venues, touring rigs, and multi-room installations alike. Portable and rack-mountable, it is well-suited to location work, while its recallable settings and intuitive workflow allow it to be operated by less-experienced staff, including volunteers. Seamless integration with Studio One and Universal Control ensures it adapts to both live performance and studio work, while the AVB-connected EarMix personal mixers allow performers to customise their in-ear monitoring mix on stage, with the console serving as a dedicated IEM controller.

About Presonus

Presonus is a US company founded in 1995 by Jim Odom and Brian Smith in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The firm designs hardware and software at both professional and more affordable levels for musicians and producers. Presonus first made a splash in the mid-1990s with the DCP8, an eight-channel analogue compressor/limiter/gate with fader and mute automation that could be digitally controlled by MIDI. In the early 2000s followed a series of microphone amplifiers and the first audio interfaces for the then-emerging home studio scene. Today, the company's product range includes audio interfaces, microphone preamps, digital mixing consoles, and studio monitors as well as the established DAW software Studio One.

Real-world applications

The Presonus StudioLive Series III SE 16 works equally well as a standalone digital console, an AVB stagebox controller, or a DAW control surface for production workflows. In a small venue, it can provide front-of-house (FOH) and monitor mixes while recording every channel direct to SD card for later mixing. In a broadcast or streaming setup, its integrated multiband processing and effects reduce the need for outboard gear. Touring musicians can pair it with NSB stageboxes for minimal cabling and streamlined routing, while EarMix units let each performer customise their IEM returns. Remote control from tablets, smartphones, or computers enables PA tuning from the audience position, monitor adjustments side-stage, and configuration of complex setups from a control room.
