Well worth it
Strings in the snow, 18.03.2021
I bought a Squier Bullet Mustang from a local music shop a little while ago, and – as tends to be the case with budget guitars – the frets needed some work to bring them up to snuff.

These rubbers made it a pretty painless job: they took off 99% of the gunk and tarnish on the frets (turning them into the equivalent of eraser dust that could just be wiped away) and a small bit of abrasive paper took care of the more stubborn bits. It's definitely a more convenient option than using steel wool.

The frets are nice and shiny now, the strings bend as smoothly as spreading butter, and what started as a good budget guitar is now a great one.

Yeah but no

This fret eraser was a test buy for me. I've been using Micro Mesh pads for a great shine on frets but they don't last forever and I wanted to see how the fret erasers do. That they should last a long time and give consistent results throughout their useable life seems like quite an advantage.

First off, this 100grit, does not give a mirror shine. It's roughly equivalent to 3200 grit micro mesh. That gets frets clean quickly and smooth enough to play very nicely but it's obviously not as good as finish as continuing with finer grits. If Thomann offered 2000 and 3000 grits, I'd definitely give them a try.

I think this a lot of work for the result. With 3" x 4" micro mesh pads I can work many frets at a time and the micro mesh conforms to the shape of the fret better. The fret erasers require more diligent work across the fret and while they do a great job quickly, you end up doing one fret at at time.

tl;dr I'm a little disappointed and finer grits are definitely required.

Perfect for the job. Gives you nice and polished frets, almost like new.

After 15 years not playing my US Fender Stratocaster(...), finally decided to start my guitar journey again. So much information available right now compared to 20 years ago, I found that I needed to take more care of my instrument, especially the original frets were oxidized, especially on higher frets.

These polishing rubbers work flawlessly, they are very smooth and made a good job at polishing the frets. Used together with Göldo WS045 Fretboard Guard not to damage the neck, the combination is brilliant. Honestly, I see no cons having and using them. Highly recommended!!!

I didnt expect that
Adrian0072, 20.08.2020
I recently bought a Squier Bullet Mustang that must have been dragged through the desert because the frets were disgusting rough and grated on the strings when I tried to bend notes. I gave these rubbers a shot, and wow did they make a difference! Theyre now smooth as can be after about 30 mins of polishing. The best part is the metal that is scratched off forms into eraser dust (like with a pencil eraser) so I didnt even have to tape up my pickups. AND it comes in a pack of two!
