Far more than just a modeller!

More than ten years after the launch of Line 6 Helix, the manufacturer is celebrating its flagship model with the new Stadium series. Far from being a simple update, the Line 6 Helix Stadium XL Floor is a well-thought-out evolution of the already powerful engine, turning it into a flexible workstation for studio and live setups. At its heart is the new Agoura modelling technology, which enables a smooth transition between idealised digital precision and powerful amplifier tones, while reproducing the interaction between speaker and amplifier to achieve a more natural feel within the presets. Lighting and video setups, as well as setlists, can be easily controlled and adapted to the set via the automation feature, and in addition, the device can also function as a fully-fledged USB audio interface.

For purists and creative minds

With its built-in touchscreen and additional controls, the Line 6 Helix Stadium XL's user interface is highly intuitive, allowing even purists to quickly find their way around. The more advanced editing options are structured similarly to a DAW layout, simplifying creative sound design and allowing almost all parameters to be adjusted directly on the device or via a computer. Extensive stereo setups with a variety of effects are straightforward to manage thanks to the powerful DSP, while the XL version's comprehensive routing allows two instruments to be used simultaneously, and a vocal signal to be processed via the XLR input. In addition, it can be controlled with up to four drum triggers, features MIDI in and out, FX loops, connectors for up to four expression pedals and, of course, a headphone output.

The all-inclusive package

As players have come to expect from Line 6, the sound quality is outstanding here and leaves little to be desired. Covering virtually every musical style and preference, the selection includes around 150 amplifiers, 60 speaker cabinets, and 260 effects, on top of which existing Helix users can import their presets into the Stadium and further refine them with the additional Agoura amp models. Twenty-two models are available at launch, and the powerful DSP opens the door for more features and sounds in the future. The possibilities of the Line 6 Helix Stadium XL range from classic amp modelling to stage show control and integration into studio setups, while those who explore its extensive features will benefit not only from outstanding sound quality but also from a reliable MediaHub with a precise workflow.

About Line 6

The American manufacturer Line 6, which has been an affiliate of the Yamaha group since 2014, is one of the pioneers in the field of digital amplifiers for guitarists. The company was founded in 1996 and, that same year, presented the world’s first digital modelling amplifier: The AxSys 212. The breakthrough came in 1998 with Line 6's POD, which made sound modelling available in home studios for the first time. Since 2015, the Helix series has provided even more refined simulations. The Variax technology has additionally allowed the Californian firm to model electric guitars sounds with ever more flexibility. Besides effects pedals, Line 6 also offers software and recording technology, and is active in the field of digital wireless systems for sound transmission and small PA systems.

A full-featured audio interface

In addition to its advantages for live performances, the Line 6 Helix Stadium XL can also be used as a high-end solution for recording applications. It connects to macOS and Windows via USB and functions as a standalone audio interface, enabling latency-free recording and reamping. As a recording solution, the device features eight USB channels that can be used to record DI sounds, stereo sounds, or a second instrument simultaneously, while the microphone input offers a 48-volt phantom power supply that can be activated in the global settings. Those who want to take full advantage of the routing and connection options can integrate the D10 digital I/O expansion unit into their setup, and for safe transport, a special Line 6 Helix Stadium backpack offers additional space for other important equipment.

Agora amps are incredible. Makes previous gen feel prehistoric!
Hega35 23.12.2025
The Helix Stadium XL is, hands down, the most inspiring and usable piece of guitar gear I’ve owned. It takes everything Line 6 learned from the original Helix platform and pushes it into genuinely modern territory. The new agora amps have to be played to be experienced fully. They are extremely realistic and hugely responsive, this doesn’t come across as well in the plethora of youtube videos!

The standout feature for me is Focus Mode. It completely changes how fast you can build tones. Instead of menu-diving or second-guessing signal chains, you lock into one block and shape it properly, in context, in seconds. It feels immediate and it encourages you to trust your ears rather than your eyes. Tone creation is faster, more intuitive, and far more enjoyable than on any previous Helix unit.
The touchscreen is excellent. It’s extremely responsive, accurate, and actually useful rather than gimmicky. Dragging blocks, adjusting parameters, and navigating presets feels fluid and deliberate. There’s no lag, no missed inputs, and no frustration. It genuinely speeds up workflow, especially when editing on the fly.
Bluetooth audio is another massively underrated win. Being able to stream phone audio directly for backing tracks, reference tracks, or quick practice without extra cables is incredibly convenient. It sounds great and just works, which is exactly what you want.
Yes, there are some minor bugs at launch — but that was the trade-off for getting such a forward-thinking product into players’ hands early, a vote taken on line 6 social platforms. None of them are deal-breakers, and knowing Line 6’s track record, they’ll be ironed out quickly. I’d much rather have the hardware now and grow with firmware updates than wait another few months. Firmware 1.2 has already released, less than a month after release fixing some bugs and adding more agora amps. Huge work rate from line 6!

Overall, the Helix Stadium XL feels like a proper next-generation unit. It’s powerful, fast, inspiring, and clearly designed by people who actually use this stuff on real stages. Once you spend time with it, going back to older modelers feels clunky and dated. Absolutely worth it.

Brilliant User Interface & Great Sound
Pedrex 04.02.2026
I am coming from a humble Pod HD 500 straight into the Stadium XL Floor - although I have used the Helix Native software a bit as well, so I wasn't completely unfamiliar with the Helix sound and effects. I must say WOW , what an upgrade that was! The sounds are of course better - I would say the biggest improvement from the HD series are the cabs section (updated for the Helix around firmware 3.5) and the fact that you can load IRs, which is of course a standard nowadays. The amount of amps, cabs and effects is also a huge upgrade from the HD series.

What's most impressive is how Line 6 has made it a fun and engaging experience to try all the different amps and effects out. They are mostly dialed in pretty well from factory (the factory presets are also mostly great), and Focus View allows you to test completely different tones easily and fast.

The new Agoura amps are impressive - I am mostly impressed with the clean amps. It's not that the distorted amps don't sound sound great as well; they do, but it is hard to beat the Badonk for metal rhythms. The Revv and Panama models are very good as well - but it can be hard to justify the extra DSP, given that Badonk is pretty light weight.

In any case, DSP can still be tight if playing with 2-3 instruments and two Agoura amps per path, so sacrifices need to be made in those cases. Choosing the Badonk instead of one of the Agoura high gain was my logical decision, and it freed up all the DSP I had the need for and probably more.

The touch screen is huge, bright and a joy to use - especially for Focus View, parametric EQ and 10 band EQ. I still have to experiment more with it for the cab block, which seems to work really well as well.

I haven't used Showcase yet, but looking forward to using it for pre-recorded bass for my band's rehearsals. Proxy is not out yet, so I can't speak about it as of yet. I can tell that I am already on the fence about it, given that Line 6 has stated that one capture block should use as much DSP as an Agoura amp. I might be mistaken, but if I remember correctly from testing out the Quad Cortex, I think the capture models on the QC use a lot less DSP comparatively speaking. In any case, I opted for the Stadium for the modelling, not the capturing - but it can still be a great bonus.

All in all I am having a lot of fun with the unit, as well as dialling in some killer tones both with the Agoura models as well as with some of the original models. It was a very expensive purchase, but I am more than satisfied with the results so far.

On a sidenote, I know that the units have come out of the factory with a lot of bugs. Luckily, I have only encountered the disconnections from the computer software - nothing major, and nothing more. Furthermore, a lot of the bugs have been fixed in 1.2.1 - and knowing Line 6's track record, I have confidence that everything will be fixed soon, and new amp models will continue to pop up regularly, which just makes this unit an extra joy to have.

Not ready for prime time
Downtown Billy 01.02.2026
I waited an extraordinary amount of time, hoping to prepare it for an upcoming tour. It took almost 4 weeks to get here, because DHL "lost" it. So, when it did finally arrive, the first thing I wanted was to update the firmware, but first there was an error, and to bypass the error I had to remove the MicroSD card, per some other users that and the same problem.

So, now it booted up, and the firmware upgrade went swimmingly. I put the MicroSD card back in, and reformatted it. Showcase mode was where I went next, so I could test out if it would work for my upcoming tour. The instructions in the manual were not quite correct, but I did eventually get my WAV files in, and got them to play back. It was late, so I figured I'd wait until the next day to dive in, and verify functionality for touring.

This is where things went very wrong. It froze during boot up. So, as before, I removed the MicroSD card. Still froze during boot up. Tried several more times, kept locking up during bootstrap.

As a touring artist, I need gear that works every time. So this was a deal breaker. I've had problems with Line6 firmware issues before (the infamous delete on all your assigned outputs on all the presets), and sold my Helix, as a result. Imagine stepping onto a stage, and your unit freezes/locks up? Where do you go if that happens?

Into the trash bin of history. So, I will stick with my NeuralDSP Quad Cortex, which has never failed me. Line6 may eventually iron out these bugs, but I am not their alpha tester. The features, if they worked, are great, but I can't use a very expensive unit that locks up for any reason.

If you are not a touring musician, you can maybe live with issues. I cannot. I was so looking forward to this, but it became a HUGE disappointment.
