Gibson BurstBucker #3 NC

Pickup # 3The first humbucker was the PAF by Seth Lover (the PAF was named by the "patent applied for" pickerl on the underside), and it was found not only on the legendary Gibson guitars such as the Les Paul, SG , ES series, but also on the exotics like the Flying V or Explorer. For many guitarists it is still the best; Not a screamer, it's much too classy for that, but it can sing like no other pickup.

Gibson already has the official PAF heir with the Classic 57. But since the first humbuckers were not yet machine-wrapped with today's precision, the legendary early PAFs have a very wide range of tolerances, with different winding ratios and outputs.

The Burstbucker #3 has significantly more output than its #1 and #2 counterparts. It retains the characteristic vintage PAF sound. A very good lead pickup that can be combined with a # 1 or # 2 at the neck

Very Verstile burstbucker
Jamie4783, 06.03.2017
I play mostly metal but always wanted to try burstbucker pickups since Brandon small uses them in his signature guitars at first I was going to use his set but the output was a bit low for my liking so I did my homework on burstbuckers thanks to Gibson and I decided on the 3 in the bridge and the 2 in the neck very happy with purchase

Gibson Burstbucker
Dave1983, 16.12.2009
A long time ago I had a Gibson Les Paul Studio.

This guitar was factory-stocked with Gibson Burstbucker Pro pickups. Since I have been playing Seymour Duncan for years (SH-4), I have probably imagined that the Gibson also include Duncan;)

The dunks are somewhat reserved when it comes to the mids. With riffs, this is how this roll is made, but for my ears, the leads are also "thinner".

So - the decision was made: Gibson PUs had to come back. At first I chose Gibson 498T and 490R, but after a very nice discussion with an employee of the guitars department, the Burstbucker was recommended.

I can only pass on this recommendation. Especially when the volume poti is included in the game, the sound remains steadily "soft" when the potentiometer is turned down, while the decurrences have decreased in the case of the duncans, but the aggressive rolling is still present in the upper region.

It is also said that the Burstbucker pickups against the Burstbucker Pro variant are not waxed. This is advantageous if you want to split the pickup. Unfortunately, the pickup is only available in 2-wire design, but with a little skill, the cap of the PU can be removed with a scalpel (cut through the solder joints). The 2 coils are internally connected via 2 wires, which is glued with an insulating tape. Remove the insulation tape and solder a 3rd wire as a tap. Then isolate again and cap on it :)

With a push pull potentiometer, the pickup can be splashed. Has worked with me wonderfully. This also makes soft, clear clean sounds possible, which you probably do not know about this pickup.

Even guitarists who want to upgrade their epiphone, I can recommend this pickup without restriction.
