Good bits: For this size and portability it is just great synth. It sounds good and has good connectivity. Battery life about 4-6 hours. Plugged in charger does not make any hiss, buzz.
Bad bits: Sounds are quite similar with minor differences, no pitchbending. Quite a process to program sequences. Once one learns it its just a matter of pressing those buttons, but if not used for while, need to learn again.

I expected too much from this...there is a very good reason its advertised as a chord machine. I wanted to use this as a small mobile sound module to trigger midi from my Akai Force for live gigs....and yes it can do that, but the control of it is way way too simplistic. Pity..

Cooled kleines Tool mit Einschränkungen

Musste eine Weile auf das Teil warten aber dann endlich letzten Monat bekommen.
Eine Anleitung war zwar dabei aber ich habe mir dann verschiedene Tutorial angeschaut um das Grundprinzip zu verstehen.
Jedoch kommen man aber im Einsatz nicht immer ohne eine Papierdoku zur Hand aus. Im Menü gibt es verschiedene Funktionen die auf dem ultra kleinen Display nur abgekürzt geschrieben sind. Irgendwann weiss man das dann sicherlich auswendig, aber für die Chord Styles spätestens braucht man ein Faltblatt.
Der Sound ist generell gut und brauchbar, jedoch merkt man bei den eher sparsamen Sound Editiermöglichkeiten, dass es wohl keine richtige Klangerzeugung ist sondern eher Samples. Der Filter ist eher vergleichbar mit nem alten Akai S3000 auf nem Sample. der macht zwar was zu aber es klingt etwas zahm. Die Resonanz klingt sehr digital und man hört die Abtastrate.
Eine bischen umfsngreichere Klangerzeugung mit wirklichen Juno Features wäre sicherlich möglich und schön gewesen…aber ok…200 Euro….
Was tatsächlich sehr cool ist, wenn man den J-6 über USB am Computer hat, dann kann man das Teil als kleines, batteriebetriebenes Masterkeyboard verwenden (1 Oktave ohne Velocity). Wenn man um Chord Modus ist, dann werden die Chords auch per Midi gesendet und man kann diese in seiner DAW aufnehmen und natürlich auch andere Instrumente/Plugins damit füttern.
Auch im Verbund mit Volcas oder mit dem Roland T-8 macht das Ding schon mächtig Spass.
Das Display bei allen Roland T Produkten ist aber leider echt armseelig. Was Grösseres hätte sicherlich kaum mehr gekostet..
Ich bereue meinen Kauf jedoch bisher nicht!

Le son est très propre, les presets assez variés. Le séquenceur d'accords est magique pour les gens comme moi, qui ont la flemme d'apprendre le solfège, et même pour les gens pas comme moi, qui savent où ils vont! L'arpégiateur est simple mais efficace. Cette petite machine au workflow très original et agréable à utiliser, s'intègre très bien dans n'importe quel setup "Live machine". Bravo Roland pour cette série Aira Compact, nettement mieux fini que les Korg Volca (batterie intégrée, E/S midi, entrée mix chainable, reverb/delay de qualité)
