I heard, that when NASA astronauts checked the spaceships that came back from space, they found out that the structure of metals was changed. They had become stronger. The same technology is applied here. The strings are treated in extreme cold, and they are more responsive and somewhat stiffer.
I use these strings on my superstrats, to play in B standart tuning. In comparison, I use 12-68’ strings from other manufacturers, and they seem as tense as these blue steels. They hold up great, they sound really bright and so far, I haven’t broken any single one of blue steels strings.
If you use coated strings as I did and still do today, then I suggest buying a string conditioner, because these strings get dirty fast. I suggest cleaning these (and basically all) strings after playing, and they will stay great for a long time.
Note, that the first three strings are 13 to 26w, which means, you might have harder time playing solos. The fourth string is wounded, similarly as acoustic guitar sets, which gives more aggressive low end vibration, and tighter sound.

Perfect strings for people who like high tension/thicker stings or who play metal/down tune. The string gauge makes down tuning keep the normal tension, perfect for drop D and even drop C. I bought these strings as I found when I tuned down to drop D the low D would be a little loose and go out of tune easily, and drop C made all the strings have problems. These strings have fixed this problem and now I can play any tuning without loosing tension!
Sound quality is excellent as are all the Blue Steel range (I own a blue steel string set for my bass and they have lasted longer than any other string set I've used).
One other thing I should mention is that usually new guitar strings take a while to settle in and go out of tune a lot at first, these adjusted really quickly. You could easily string these up right before a show and have no real fear of them going wildly out of tune like other brands.
Regardless of weather you want to drop tune or not, get a Blue Steel string set, I can't recommend them highly enough and there are many different gauges for all players!

Ich hab jetzt keine Marktanteil-Statistik vor mir liegen, aber ich denke man kann einigermaßen realistisch sagen, dass Ernie Ball und D'Addario der "Standard" sind und soundmäßig einen gewissen (gemeinsamen, da sehr ähnlichen) Referenzpunkt darstellen. Die Blue Steel habe ich mir gekauft, weil ich irgendwo gelesen hatte, dass sie etwas schlanker im Bass sind. Mir kommt das entgegen, da ich die betroffene Gitarre auf C# stimme (zt tiefer), zt viel Distortion benutze und im Moment relativ straight ohne booster in den Amp gehe. Dabei kommt ua ein Orange TH30 zum Einsatz, der die Bässe relativ wenig beschneidet und daher bei viel gain auch schon mal bisschen "wollig" werden kann.

Als letztes und daher aktuellen direkten Vergleich hatte ich D'Addario EXL 148 drauf.

Was fällt auf?-
-Das Aufziehen war schonmal problemlos. Keine gerissene Saite, auch nirgends das Gefühl, dass das Material an die Grenze kommt.
-G/3th ist umsponnen; ist Geschmackssache, aber bei den EXL 148 (auf C#) war diese Saite schon recht labberig, was meinem eher groben Anschlag nicht entgegen kam. Hier also nun deutlich tighteres Grundfeel und auch deutlich mehr Output auf den 3 dünnsten Saiten
-Tension untenrum ist gefühlt nicht geringer als bei den EXL 148...sehr gut!
-Insgesamt klingen die Saiten kräftiger, mittiger. Also wie man es betrachten möchte, entweder weniger scooped als Ernie Ball/D'Addario oder eben mit schlankeren Bässen (und dementsprechend prominenterer midrange)...Ok, soweit war ja auch das Kalkül...
-Was mich aber überrascht hat war, dass auch die Höhen weniger scharf sind. Alle meine Gitarren sind modifiziert, alle Volume-und Tonpotis kommen bei mir immer gleich als erstes einfach raus. Dadurch bringen meine Pickups viel Resonanz-Peak, = viel Biss, aber manchmal eben auch bisschen zu unkontrolierte Schärfe in den Höhen. Die Blue Steel sind hier einfach ein bisschen smoother, was im konkreten Anwendungsfall (Ibanez RG, Linde/Ahorn/Ahorn) im Moment echt gut zu passen scheint.
-Look/Feel/Rauhigkeit etc sind absolut nice.

Ich lasse meine Saiten eigentlich so lange drauf wie es geht, ich wechsele definitiv nicht, wenn die erste Brillianz vergeht. Mit Geld hat das nichts zu tun, mir ist es lieber, dass sich ein Sound einstellt, der auch konsistent so bleibt. Glücklicherweise gibt mir absolute mega Brillianz auch keinen Mehrwert, also ist das für mich ne gangbare Strategie. Heißt also, mal gucken wie sich die Saiten jetzt noch so einspielen, aber irgendwie sagt mir mein Bauchgefühl, dass sie gar nicht sooo viel Brillianz verlieren können (wo nichts ist.... ;)) we'll see.

Also.. empfohlen für:
-Spieler auf der Suche nach mehr Mitten, guter Tension bei low tunings

NICHT empfohlen für:
-Spieler die schon mit der Saite einen breiten vielleicht sogar scooped sound mit vielen Bässen und Höhen wollen
