I bought this mic for live concerts. I know, condensers are not the most common choice on the stage, but as the feedback is usually manageable with a little tweaking and the sound is a lot less muffeled, I see a lot of gains to be made with these mics. Condensers for sure don't withstand abuse as well as dynamic mics, so I reasoned, that if a cheap condenser breaks, it's not a big loss for us.
I used these mics when amplifying a big band, as well as while amplifying an accordion. It's quite bright sounding, but that's exactly what I was after. It handles flutes, saxophones and trombones very nicely, and the accordion's bass side was surprisingly rich. I rarely encountered any feedback issues with it, so I'd definitely use this mic in other circumstances as well.
It'd be interesting to bring this mic to the studio for a few tests, but in a live environment the noise level was manageable. For sure it's not as quiet as some more expensive condenser mics, but for its price it's really quite amazing.
I probably wouldn't use this mic to pick up really quiet or sensitive sound sources, but in loud circumstances, this mic should at least be considered as an option for miking up an 'dull-sounding' instrument or two. It's quite crazy, how good stuff you can get nowadays for this sort of money. Give it a try, and I think you'll be happy.
