Excellent craftsmanship, looks great, mediocre pickups
I'd had my eye on this model since I first played one in 2017, and finally got one. It was worth the wait, because the previous lighter-colored laurel fretboards now appears to be rosewood, or very dark laurel, which looks much better. Don't expect miracles from the pickups, they are, to my ear, good but not great. It's nothing like a Tele in the traditional sense, it is it's own thing, -- which is great. I didn't care for the lacquered neck, but that was easy enough to change to a satin feel with some 000 steel wool. The model has been in Fender's catalog for more than 20 years, and the workmanship has never been better. Don't shy away from buying based on country of origin, it's a lot of guitar for the money.
