Worth a go

I run a jazz collective at my school, and I bought this for anyone who wants to play a quick solo with our jazz trio. It's a handy selection of tunes, in a fairly easy to play arrangement. I have played in both the trio and as a soloist with the book and it's great fun.

Essential for anyone studying jazz

The Real Book ist definitiv eine der bekanntesten Ansammlung von Jazz Standards. Insgesamt bringt es meine Bass Version (6ths Edition) auf 464 Songs die sich bunt gemischt über das ganze Jazz Spektrum erstrecken. Wichtig ist vielleicht anzumerken, dass es sich um eine englischsprachige Ausgabe handelt, was sich aber abgesehen davon, dass das die Notation ein bisschen anders ist ("H" wird "B") nicht weiter bemerkbar macht.

Was ich persönlich ein bisschen Schade finde, ist, dass die Songauswahl eine andere ist, als die im Violin Real book. Dadurch kann es auf der Session dann eben passieren, dass man doch beim Pianisten über die Schultern kucken muss, weil der Song nicht drin steht. Wer also nicht die Lines vom Blatt spielen möchte, sondern im Grunde nur die Akkorde mit Zusätzen braucht, sollte mal in Erwägung ziehen die weiter verbreitete Violin (Normale) Version zu erstehen. Das hätte zusätzlich nämlich den Vorteil, dass die Seitenzahlen gleich sind... Das Buch ist alphabetisch Sortiert und lässt sich durch die Spiralbindung komfortabel umblättern.

Fazit: Das Realbook- ganz egal in welcher Version- gehört im Grunde zum Equipment eines Jazzers (fast) genauso dazu, wie das Instrument.

J'ai acheté ce Realbook pour mon école de Jazz, évidemment il n'y a pas tout dedans mais c'est une base solide pour approfondir son catalogue de thèmes !

Un testo che tutti i musicisti dovrebbero avere

Questo volume è da considerarsi lo standard e ogni musicista dovrebbe averne una copia. Come al solito Hal Leonard ha reso questo volume perfetto con una rilegatura in plastica robusta e con tutte le trascrizioni perfettamente leggibili. Consiglio questo libro a tutti coloro che hanno intenzione di farsi una cultura sugli "standard" della musica di livello.
