In Studio 666, the Foo Fighters rent a historic cottage in Encino, Los Angeles. There the musicians want to work on their 10th album. The goal is to set new standards. However, the musicians are overcome with a justifiably uneasy feeling upon arrival. The façade of the villa and the nebulous ambience do not inspire confidence at all. In the trailer, Dave Grohl asks, “Do you feel this overwhelming sense of death?” Until then, it’s just a feeling. But the fight against the hellish supernatural quickly takes its course…

A horror parody through bloodthirsty storytelling
The gear is carted in and set up in the living room. First up is the songwriting. However, Dave Grohl suffers from the typical musician’s phenomenon: writer’s block at the wrong time. Suddenly the villa begins to feel haunted. Supernatural beings threaten the lives of the band members, the musicians are confronted with bloodthirsty spirits. It is precisely this mood that unleashes Dave’s creativity… The fact that Grohl and Co. take the genre-typical clichés of fear, violence and blood to extreme levels makes this an entertaining horror satire.

Headbanging, laughing and screaming at the cinema
The idea of bringing a cinematic format to the big screen with the horror comedy “Studio 666” has matured. Dave Grohl himself says: “After decades of ridiculous music videos and numerous music documentaries, it was finally time to step up to the next level: a full-length horror comedy”. And he promises in his usual nice way: “Be ready to laugh, scream and headband in your popcorn. Studio 666 will f— you up” The 52-year-old Grohl is delighted that Open Road Films has secured the rights to the movie, which means that the Foo Fighters were also able to produce this film professionally.

The Foos carried kept a secret for 2 years
The film was shot in secret, so to speak; at least without promoting the ambitious film project in the media beforehand. The location – the legendary villa – was the studio where the band had recorded “Medicine At Midnight”. The Foo Fighters carried the secret around with them for a period of two years before the news was made public. And then it really took off. The trailer for “Studio 666” has already generated immense interest among fans. Within a very short time, the preview on YouTube was clicked almost 8 million times.
Top-class cast with paranormal stars
The teaser trailer shows, for example, that ex-Slayer guitarist Kerry King and soul legend Lionel Richie will be among the protagonists of the flick. Also starring in “Studio 666” are actors such as Whitney Cummings (The Ridiculous 6), Leslie Grossman (American Horror Story), Will Forte (MacGruber), Jeff Garlin (ParaNorman) and Jenny Ortega (Iron Man 3). The film idea came from Dave Grohl personally. Rebecca Hughes and Jeff Buhler wrote the script, and it was directed by none other than Hatchet III director BJ McDonnell. The trailer and cast definitely whets the appetite for more.
Not only the rock world is looking forward to this film
We can’t even guess how the almost supernatural story develops. After all, Grohl is known for his almost intellectual storytelling with unexpected twists. In any case, he is someone who can stage illusions as realities. And that means that in addition to die-hard Foo Fighters fans, regular moviegoer can also look forward to the flick. After all, the movie goes far beyond the previous Foo Fighters music videos and documentaries. A film that weaves so much fear, horror and the supernatural with comedy and full-steam rock into a cohesive whole. Definitely worth seeing!
