And okey device even though it is lacking some features.
A solid interface that has been in my possession for about 4 years. I have used the 8Pre as a tool for recording small projects in my little home studio.
Pros:
- 8 good sounding pre-amps.
- The ability to send out phantom power through all the 8 analog inputs individually.
- The combi-inputs that allows you to plug in XLR, TRS and TS in the same inputs.
- The interface is easy to handle.
Cons:
- The 8Pre only have 2 analog outputs (L-R) + a phones output. This didn't bother me when i first bought this devices but now it bothers me very much since i now have obtained a 18 channel analog mixer from the 70's and some outboard gear that i am going to integrate into my system. Had this device had at least 2,4 or possibly 8 more analog outputs it would be much more flexible but now you have to have a D/A converter in order to effectively send out any signals apart from the main outs.
- Can not be expanded beyond 16 in/8 out + main out.
- I have had enormous problems with the software when running 48kHz... 44,1kHz works better.
