Totally blown away, and I’m really picky

I always love a good jazz bass and have several in my collection, ranging from 70’s US Fenders to Xotic, Fodera, Atelier Z and Alleva-Coppolo. I decided to try out a Sire after hearing so much positive about them, and went for the 4-string model with passive electronics and roasted neck.

I expected something around Fender Mexico level, but with better fret work, and tbh I was (and still am after a couple of months) totally blown away by the performance offered by the Sire.

Of course, I have only ever played the individual Sire Thomann sent me, but acoustically this bass sings like the best I have ever had, and try as I might I cannot fault the craftmanship anywhere on the bass. It’s simply put a fantastic instrument, regardless of price. Writing this I still am a bit in awe of how well this bass performs.

The only thing I am thinking of changing is switching to Fender CS 60’s pickups, but that’s a personal choice since I really love the sonic profile of those pickups - the Sire ones are actually quite nice but a little bit harsher and less slick than the Fender CS 60’s.

The Sire is incredibly responsive to different playing dynamics, the weight is just right at just a hair over 4kg and the neck feel and brilliant fret work are almost to die for. Truly an excellent bass overall, and then I haven’t even taken into consideration the incredibly good price.

Many thanks to Sire and Thomann for bringing such amazingly nice basses to beginners and professionals alike. This is really great stuff.

This is amazing

Top-quality instrument at affordable price. This one is more simple than V7 but the only change is the removal of the active system. Plays amazing, feels amazing, the fretboard is outstanding. Not even a bad word for this bass.

Fantastic bass for the money

It was a present for my 40th birthday, so it holds special place in my collection.

Bass is looking and playing on level of American Fender JB. Maybe even better looking than AMJB...

At 3.9kg it's on lighter side for a JB and balanced well, so you can't feel the weight at all. Well, it's same weight as a Les Paul but it's bigger so...

Frets ale well done and quite smooth, but it's worth to have a go at them when doing maintenance to polish them up even more. Hardware works and holds tuning with no issues, neck is nice and smooth, no blemishes on it neither on body or headstock.

Sound is great, similar to JB 77, the stock pickups handle it very well but for bigger live performances probably it would benefit from an active set. For non arena playing current set-up works just fine ;)

Awesome bass to play!

This is a really awesome bass to play - it's got a great tone and it's super comfortable to play.

In my opinion, there are really not many other basses that can compete in the same price range. You really won't ever regret getting this bass
