I'm really enjoying this mic. It's my 'out at all times for ideas' mic. It sounds really good for demo tracking vocals and instruments, and it's very easy to use. I can't comment on its use for proper vocals or instrument tracking yet, but I'll update this review once I've had a chance.
I also purchased a little XLR FET pre for it to give it a phantom power-enabled gain boost. Small frustration: this lives in the back on my interface, as the included mic mount isn't strong enough to stay still (i.e. not tilt the mic angle) with the FET pre hanging out of the mic itself. However, it really is worth buying one of these FET pres for it so you're not having to whack the mic gain up too high, introducing audible noise.
Construction-wise, it is a very well built mic that I'm sure can handle a beating. The cardboard box it ships with is actually great - well padded, with lots of space among the foam you can easily cut into if you want extra storage for your FET pre, cable, or other bits. The mount definitely is sturdy enough, it's only when the FET is added to the mic that it struggles.
In all, this mic is very very good value for money. Another case of, 'Thomann could charge double for this, and it would still be great value for money'!
