Seymour Duncan Black Winter Neck

I got the set to put in a Jackson King V i've had for a while and I'm not disapointed.

The neck version is clean, responsive and super articulate.

The both versions have a lot of extreme bass and treble frequencies so they drive amps to near breaking point but the neck version has a lot more Mids than the bridge version which make it a little screamy for a neck pick up however still a nice sounding pup.

As with It is incredibly hot though so obviously not suited well for blues, classic rock, Jazz etc although they do clean up quite well they have a bit too much gain to realy be utilized for clean playing.

While split you get a hot Strat type feel with a lot clean fluid feeling so great for legato and sustained notes however more creamy than the bridge version with a bit more fluidity.

These pick ups are excellent and what more can be expected from Mr Duncan and his team?

They both versions are super hot so i'd be wary about trying them if you want something subtle but the trade off is infinete sustain(as close as you'll get) articultation and a cutting tone.

Deffinetely worth getting if you play metal or shred and even Jazz at a push but still they are very very hot.

Gesucht war ein Partner für den JB-SH4 in der Halsposition. Mir war nach etwas Exotischem, darum ist auch die Standard-Kombi JB/Jazz entfallen.
Eine Sache hat der JB nicht hinbekommen und das waren Black Metal-Riffs bei denen vor allem die hohen Saiten schön scharf klingen müssen. Und genau das liefert der Black Winter.
In der Halspositiion hat er echt fette Bässe (vor allem beim Palm Muting), die nicht matschen und einen böswilligen Sound, der extrem voll und rund erscheint und einen wirklich eigenen Charakter. Das ist nicht nur Hi-Gain, das ist schwarz! Die Höhen setzen sich dagegen in verzerrten Barré-Akkorden nicht schneidend genug durch, sorgen aber für sehr stimmungsvolle Leadsounds. Das liegt natürlich auch an der Position am Hals.
Also haben der Black Winter Neck und der JB kurzerhand die Plätze getauscht^^ (das sieht schon witzig aus mit den Schriftzügen falsch herum)
Jetzt sitzt der BW am Steg und ist der ideale Rhythmus-PU. Riffs kommen aggressiv und kraftvoll daher. Die direkte Ansprache lässt den PU sehr lebendig werden (er blüht richtig auf), und nun klingen auch die geliebten Black Metal-Riffs perfekt artikuliert.
Zusammen mit dem Blackstar HT20 lässt sich soundmäßig vom schweren Sludge bis zum schneidenden Thrash alles raus holen!
