Kali Audio LP-UNF - Remarkable with CALIBRATION

I use it with - IK Mutlimedia Arc studio HW in serial with CALIBRATION ( much more linear) - in this config it has remarkable sound // A little better , more relaxed and more thick sound than e.g IK micro monitor Pro ( similar SIZE and PRICE range Sets) - NOT PERFECT but remarkable..
// WITHOUT HW CALIBRATION - I do not like it s sound - deep has no punch and strength ( I listen only acustic style music with NATURAL base) highs not well presented - mess the whole sound range - but in this state also BETTER than many cheap speakers // I tried the correction with switches at the back - and at same time measured the result with MiniDSP UMIK-1 and REW sw - I did not like any of the modification of the switches... // BUT after I corrected it with Arc Studio HW it has much better sound ( only GOOD speakers provide better sound after linear corrections ) // I tried Arc Studio HW correction with many speakers and repeatedly ONLY GOOD spekaers sound better after linear correction... // nonlinear distortions CAN NOT be corrected....

My background: Musician and 12 years of experience sound engineer.

This is my first Kali audio product. Listening environment is a small/medium appartment, no sound treatment. First things I noticed are the imaging and clarity, sound is very precise. Bass is surprisingly deep for such a small driver, it was a bit too much out of the box but after setting up the boundary EQ everything sounds very natural.

I haven't tested the rca, usb and bluetooth connections so can't comment on that, just using the balanced inputs and the DAC of my RME babyface pro. USB and bluetooth are nice to have but I don't really care about or need them. Also I haven't pushed them at high volume so can't comment on distorsion/harshness.

No audio jobs at the moment to mix on these but just listening to my reference tracks on these is pure pleasure.

I struggle to find something bad to say about these. I definitely recommend them for someone on the move or who needs small speakers but big sound.

Fantastic monitor for home use

Very affordable and great sounding pair of speakers. The sound is very crisp and detailed for a small 4.5'' speaker. I purchased them with Fluid Audio speaker stands and they fit perfectly.

I'm also very fond of the Bluetooth connectivity option.

However, take into account that these monitors have 39hz listed at a lower frequency range, so if you're into bass music, you might not like what you hear. I tried listening to some drum and bass tracks on these and the sub is not hitting as you would expect from such a track.

I purchased these as a main pair of speakers for my desk and to play guitar through my headrush mx5. These are perfect for this task.

Also, beware, the secondary speaker is connected via a special 4 prong phoenix cable, and it is quite short, probably about 1.5m. I have a 160cm IKEA UTESPELARE desk. The monitors are not even on the edges of the desk and the cable is still dangling between them, so I can't hide it into the cable management net under the desk.

Really Impressive

I was stuck between these and KRK Rokit 5's. So glad I chose these. I needed portability, and the size of these is perfect. Hearing both side by side the low end is better on the Kalis than the KRK's if you mess around with the dip switches, which is incredible really.

The only downside with these is the connector cable, it's not secure enough. It can easily fall out the back of the monitor if you move them which is not ideal.

Everything else is 5 star for the price. These are far superior sound quality to my Adam F5's I used to have in the studio. Really impressed with Kali...
