Arrived today - great first impressions
Stuart8279, 09.07.2020
So the mb85 Beta arrived today, and first impressions are really great. Like it's brother, the mb75 Beta, it's well-built and the case it comes in is really useful.

I recently placed a review here on the 75, where I expressed a little disappointment at it on both vocals and guitar when compared to a Beta57 that I owned a few years back. I've since come to quite like it, having done some vocal singing home recording, with the gain increased a bit.

I A/B'd the mb85 Beta today against the mb75 Beta and it's slightly more crisp and present, with similar output and useful but not over-bearing proximity/bass increase. I also compared it with my Rode M2 and it's certainly not too far off in terms of open/airy sound - it's a typical dynamic mic in the sense that it's more punchy and direct, when compared with a condenser's more open tone.

I also compared it to a Behringer XM8500, and the MB85 Beta was hotter and had a greater emphasis in the upper frequencies (without every being harsh). I can see that this mic would be a far better option than an sm58 (which I've never been a fan of personally) and understand from hearing it that they've aimed to get it closer to the Shure Beta variant.

I think it's going to be a great asset - and one that I'll certainly not hesitate to use live should I need something a bit more punchy than my M2.

VERY good microphone
snakeyay, 25.08.2020
To preface this, I have tested this microphone by plugging into two different sources.

One of them is Scarlett Audio Interface 4i4 and the other is... a guitar amp (bear with me on this one). The guitar amp is simply because when my band used to have band practices, we did not have any standard speakers or amps to have a mic go through, but we did have a spare guitar amp... Previously I had a cheapo $10 microphone, but with this baby, there is a clear difference - as my ears were used to the guitar amp "sound", I had to test it with that.

Everything about this microphone is simply amazing and provides a clear and awesome sound (many other reviewers here have gone in depth to compare it to their Shures and whatnots, unfortunately, I do not have those and hence do not want to make bold statements).

One huge positive for me is the box it comes in - it is actually a pretty good selling point (at least in my view).

The only negative thing I can say about this is that the microphone clamp that comes along with it is not so good (and luckily, other reviewers pointed this out and hence I ordered a different microphone clamp for this bad boy).

Overall, would I recommend this? Absolutely. An amazing and useful microphone.

Absolutely fits my needs
O_chen, 26.08.2019
I bought this mic because I sing some back vocals at some parts on my band's songs. Since I'm the guitar/keyboard player I wasn't really keen on spending a lot of money on a singing mic, so I ordered this one.
So far, it's very decent and honestly I'm starting to believe that tbone mics are as good as Shure's and Sennheiser's ones with the advantage of being almost 50% cheaper.
It's not the first mic I own from T.Bone and I couldn't be happier.

I cannot comprehend the price
ChristianFer92, 27.05.2020
I have been the front man on a metal band for more than 8 years.
I have tried countless mics. From mines to rented one just to gig. From Shure to AKG and I cannot see this one performing as good as it does.
I just bought this one to have it as a test but what a surprise.
If you know how to use a mic, you surely know the proper distance that you have to have it from the source of sound. The response and the quality of the signal its unbelievable.
The build quality of this mic, the weight and the metal cover its just to amazing to be true.
I dont know what the h3ll, but it could be my new fav mic for a 1/3 of the price of a Shure.
hmm. Interesting.
i have used it to record some guitars from from the Amp and it performs once again excellent.
Set your eq's and you will pretty much ready to go.
What a versatile mic.
