Nice instrument
regi, 11.07.2017
We drove, pretty much as planned in Google Maps, in 2 h 10 min from our place of residence in BW north of Stuttgart to the once tranquil Treppendorf, which today is dominated by Thomann. Wow! Sure, the village looked more rural, but apparently it has now become the "mecca" (or Rome or Jerusalem) of music fans from half (or all?) Europe, since the infrastructure is already needed. We had pre-registered, and that was good, because a surprisingly large number of customers cavorted in the sales rooms. It was good that we visited the harps on the spot, because on the internet you can not really imagine the size, although it is given, let alone the sound of an instrument, which is the deciding factor. So we went to the harp room in the administration building, accompanied by Mr. Neuner (no, not Mr. Neuer, the footballer!) From the string department. There I could try the different harps. Personally, I would appreciate it if the price stood on every instrument. Otherwise, the advice was good.

Since the sound of the Salvi Mia harp was worlds better than that of the slightly cheaper instruments, the purchase was more expensive than planned, but it was worth it. In this humid weather, it is a bit difficult to keep the mood, the instrument is finally made of wood, a material that naturally reacts to temperature and humidity differences, but it is also true, it einpielen. I am thrilled with the beautiful sound, it is balm for the soul, although of course I am still learning and therefore everything is a bit slow. Yesterday I tried to mount the legs. Unfortunately there is no guide here, after all we are IKEA children of the 1st generation! I grew up in Switzerland, where the first IKEA (the Germans say "the" IKEA, sounds very strange to me) was opened in 1973 outside of Scandinavia. There is a guide for all eventualities.
Well, before I removed the attached "pegs," or whatever you want them to call that little poke on the underside of the harp, with brute force, I got the inspiration to try it with screws. And lo and behold - it worked fine, because everything is good workmanship. The legs were screwed on in no time and the height of the instrument fit. Of course, when I first voiced, I exaggerated once more - a string had to leave its still young life with an ugly sound. That was my fault, because the instructions warn against this mishap. Thankfully, I had a guitar string in stock that would fit, but then had to test it first, until I had raised this properly.
In my life, I have not covered a few instruments (cellos, five- and four-stringed, guitars, 6- and 12-string, ukuleles ...) with new strings, but I think that a guide would not be bad for that as well. Actually, it's not hard in the end, but still ... When tuning, just make sure you've got the right string working, otherwise it'll be done quickly! Well, otherwise I can only say good things about this instrument. Although I have never played in a larger room - I want to save my environment from that - that's why I still can not conclude on the acoustics and sound quality. I am glad that I chose the 34 - string harp, because I love the deep bass tones, I finally come from the cello. A smaller harp lacks these impressive strings.
The hook mechanism is clean. There are tools and instructions for adjustment. The wood is beautifully processed.
The staff at Thomann was very nice. We also got a lunch at the in-house canteen - thank you! That has strengthened us. Also in the settlement of the payment was very accommodating.
